I'm abit worried my 7 month old hasn't started saying gagga, dadda etc. The clinic nurse says she should be saying it by and all my other friends with babies around the same age started around the 6 month age?? She is very vocal and coo's etc and has reached all her other milestones on time or earlier, just not interested in talking. She was born on the 24th of Nov. Should I be concerned??

I have done some research for a child psychologist class and found that is very normal for a child to either be very active physically or very active verbally but usually not both. It doesn't mean there is anything wrong it is just the natural development for your child. The "specialists" say that babies should make sounds that start with the 'b' and 'd' sounds first because they are the easiest, but my little girl started with the 'm' sound. So, each baby is different. I wouldn't worry; she is beautiful and looks very happy in her picture!

My baby is about to be 9 months on the 1st. He has just started to babble alot!! I was worried too but now that he is really vocal im not worried anymore. He really pays attention too when i say simple words to him but he hasn't said any yet. He says stuff but i don't know what lol. Its too cute :-) You say she has reached all her milestones and is very vocal which sounds like shes doing great!!

My son does the bababa dadada yayaya.....and so on....but he isn't crawling and i have heard that they are either talkers or movers....and i think my little guy is going to be a talker....he does kinda army crawl but only if he really really wants something...... every baby is different, and i wouldn't worry.....

My baby babbles a lot and sometimes some of her babbling sound like a word such as dadda or momma or hi, but in the end I think it is unintentional. The fact that your baby is babbling is a sign that she is getting ready to talk. Babbling is practicing talking, so I wouldn't be worried at all.

All babies are different! I've always been told they are either talkers or movers and very few do both at the same time. I wouldn't worry too much yours is at least making noise which is good. My second child didn't say anything until he was about 9 months. My first did both and the newest is a talker but not much of a mover. Personally I think she doesn't want to because someone will come take her despite my protest to give her a minute. Anyways if yours is over a year and still not saying anything then I would explore it some more. Good luck!

my 7 and a half month old isnt really babbling either, she yells a lot as her form of talking but none of the traditional mama dada gaga... ive heard that either the motor skills or the vocal skills will develop faster then the other, and if shes on the move and reaching other mile stones, im sure she is just find

my LO is 7 1/2 months and isnt saying anything at all, she can scream really high pitch and coos but no dada or mama but she is very active and constanly on the move so think she is concentrating more on moving at the moment. all her friends are talking and i was getting worried but she will do it in her own time. dh said that she is more of a thinker then a talker, takes after her daddy then and clearly not me lol.

Hi Jennine, My 8 monther hasn't started yet either. He's the same as yours very active but no talking. I think they will just do it in their own time and it's nothing to be worried about.
