Hi! My son is 11 months old. He said his 1st word at 8 months which was "Dada". He doesn't say any other words. Shouldn't he have picked up more words since then?? He doesn't point yet either, and has no interest in walking while i hold his hands. He lets his legs flop and wiggles to get down.
He does crawl, and plays cars, he laughs, smiles at me when he awakes from his naps. I feel he is doing well, but i still worry. I have an older son who is 4 and he has PDD-NOS which in other words Autism. I see a huge difference between them. But i still worry. If he doesn't point or say more words should i be worried??

Talking and walking seem to be the two things that give parents the most stress when their child isn't doing it. I'm a preschool teacher (and have working with several kids on the autism spectrum). If you son is saying one word that is great, becuase to him, his other babble is speaking. Developmentally some babies don't walk until they are 22 months old, and this is still consisdered normal. If you are really worried take him to see your doctor at 12 months for a check up.

I can understand your concerns considering your older son's pdd, but I have to agree with the others, every child is so different. My son was saying about 5 words, pointing, walking well, yet never crawled, clapped his hands & waved bye bye at this age yet my 11 month daughter says dada & hasn't said momma for over a week now, she's very stubborn lol, she also doesn't clap hands nor does she point, she just started to walk but would rather crawl. I have friends whom deal with pdd, & w/that I find myself over analyzing. Of course if you have concerns, you should talk to your pediatrician, they all grow so differently.

every baby is different. my little girl only says dadda too and has only just started to pull herself up to stand and she's 11 months yet i was walking at 9 months. my friends' baby was saying 5 different things at this stage yet ellie only says dadda. (although most people say that dadda is the first word most babys say.) he'll talk when he wants to.

I don't think it's anything to worry about. My son is 11 months old, doesn't say ANY words or even consonantsounds, doesn't point and is just starting to move his legs when I try to get him to walk with me. My pediatrician (as well as all of my experienced "mom" friends) tell me this is nothing to worry about. They are still well within range and some kids just take longer than others. However, I agree that if you are really concerned that you should speak with your pediatrician.

I think it sounds very normal to me for the age. But, if you have concerns, you should talk to your pediatrician.
