So, im sure all of the moms who had their babies in November know what im talking about. I am dying to go outside for a walk. The mall thing has gotten kinda boring and I want Carson to see everything outside. So at what temperature is it warm enough to take him for a walk outside?

Well I'm in BC Canada....and as soon as it felt like "Spring" Weather I started to bring my daughter out for walks to get her use to the fresh air and now we've been walking daily since mid January....weather pending....but as long as I had her dressed properly and protected from the wind....my doctor told me one more layer than what I have on would do her just fine.....as a first time mom this is something that I always 2nd guess myself on and now my daughter seems to get crabby if we don't get our daily walks in....just trust your judgement and your baby will be fine:)

Hi all!

I live in Perth, Australia & I'm on the other end of the scale. It's steaming hot here! Between 35 - 40 degrees C!!! I don't take my little one out when it's that hot 'cause he gets really cranky but below 35 & he loves it.

Good luck to all in the cold weather! Take my hat off to you :)

I was bummed out at first because I was very reluctant to take my baby outside being a november baby. But once she was about 6 weeks old I started taking her for mini walks of 5-10minutes. I would bundle her up and take her out for some fresh air. It was definitely hard at first but I think having her exposed to fresh air did a lot of good! I would even take her out when it was 25 degrees but for shorter walks. Doc says its ok :)

I'm also in Ontario, Canada... but I'm not a winter person, so I only take my 3 month old for a walk when its warm (but being Canadian - warm in winter means like -5 or so...). Ths past week has been great... we even went and hung out at the puppy park yesterday!!

I'm in Ontario and I walk my son nearly everyday (unless there is a serious wind chill) He enjoys being out and the fresh air is good for him. I love outdoor activity any time of the year and I want my son to as well

I've been out many times here in Ontario when it's been -10 Celcius. I just have a snowsuit on him, a cover that zips up and then a blanket over the carseat.  I also tend to put up the viser on the stoller and car seat for wind protection.

If it's much colder with a wind chill, I will head to the mall.  Although that does provide me with lots of temptations like Star Bucks, Tim Hortons, fries etc......... So I'll be glad when it gets warmer so I won't have to do that often.

I would say to use us best judgement. As long baby is bundled up and ears r covered you should be fine. I have a 3 month old and I take him out often, as long as im  not gettin blown away by the wind!

We live in Nova Scotia, Canada and we were out last week when it was -8 celcius (no wind) he was bundled up good, he fell right to sleep when we got out and stayed that way for our whole walk (30 minutes) so I figured he must have been fine :)

I live in Toronto, Canada and I take my son outside anytime mid-day if the weather is around 0 C. I dress him up in lots of layers and put him in his Kagaroo carrier and off we go for 30 minutes. He loves it and I get a great work out. Go out and enjoy the weather:)

I'm in Edmonton, so we're pretty cold a lot of the time. I will go out with my little one up to about -10c and that is only if there is no wind. If there is a windchill, I stay in. I do this even if it is just a walk to the mail box and back, but I believe fresh air is important so try my best to go every day.

I'm glad to hear people ARE taking their babies out in cold weather...maybe I shouldn't be so overly worried after all... Luckily, I think the next few days are supposed to be warmer.

I'm in Ontario, Canada and it has been below freezing with tons of snow lately!! Today is 10 degrees F so I definately won't be going out today.

I usually walk around the mall but last time they were having a big sale so I ended up spending too much money! So needless to say, I can't wait for spring.

I do think it's harder to have a newborn in winter....My personal rule of thumb is 40 degrees, and not too windy. For the most part, she's protected from the wind by the stroller, so that doesn't bother her. I actually have to be careful not to bundle her up TOO much, or she gets cranky. My ped encouraged me to get her out as much as I wanted, and I usually take her for 1-2 mile walks. I figure as long as I'm not freezing, neither is she...and she does seem to sleep better on the days we've gone out.

My doc said to go ahead & get him outside 'cuz the germs are on people and inside rather than outside.  But - I'm not in a super cold environment either.  My lower limit of temps for a wlak outside is about 45degrees (assuming it's not real windy).

I feel the exact same way! I used to teach school, so I've sort of been going by the temperature that we'd take kids out to the playground...as long as it's above 50 degrees and then I bundle him up with blankets and such. But I haven't heard a clear answer on this...I love cold weather so I have a hard time staying inside.
