we started about a week ago with out daughter, we are working on milk, eat, up, and diaper. I started with those because they are the basic needs. Ive read that it can take a couple weeks to a couple months for them to sign back. So far she is imitating the milk sign but i dont think she really understands it yet... I cant wait for her to be able to tell me what she wants

our baby signs "no" and "more". It's really neat. We are working on a few more

I also started teaching my baby signing. I started with the signs for bottle, eat & sleap. Apparently they will only start signing back at around 8 - 10 months.

From what I hear, as long as you are speaking and signing, their talking should be BETTER. We're trying it with our boys.

I've been doing a couple of signs with my son. He knows the one for "up" really well! I don't even have to say anything anymore and he knows what it is. He doesn't seem to sign it back yet, but he raises his arms and smiles with delight when I sign it. I've also been trying mom and dad.

One thing to be careful about though it that as they get older you might find that they sign rather than say the words they want. A friend of mine says that their friends child does this cause they know they will get what they want from signing and not speaking,

I'm going to keep trying though.
