I have a bad injury that causes my shoulder to dislocate randomly, up to 10 times a day. I am having real trouble lifting my daughter,Louise, who is almost 15 months. I also find that I can't push the buggy. Any suggestions on how to lift her without the risk of dropping her?

Hi, sorry it's taken so long for me to respond. Louise was born on 15th November 2008. You saying about Thomas wanting to be cuddled and picked up more now made me smile because Louise is exactly the same lol! I can't deny her either, she's just so sweet!x

Thanks Emily, i hope the surgery does happen and is able to help you out.Thomas was born on 26th Nov 2008, what about your little princess? Hope my advice helps, i'm not sure what to do with Thomas. He's walking and everything but seems to want to be picked up now more than ever and although he is just under 50th percentile for weight, he's still a heavy lump for me but i can't seem to deny him cuddles lol xx

Congratulations on your pregnancy! Yes it's just one shoulder - right; which makes things difficult as I'm predominantly right-handed. I will have to try scooping her like you suggested, hopefully it will be easier. She can't quite reach the sofa yet, but will stand up when she wants to be lifted. It's a permanent injury, but there is a possibilty I may be able to have surgery within the next few months to try and stabilise it. When was your little man born? Thanks for the advice.x

Hi Emily,

I'm having a similar problem but it's because i'm pregnant. Only 13 weeks but i feel twinges when i try to lift Thomas up now. Is it just the one shoulder? Is there a way you could use the other arm to scoop her up? So your arm is under her's at the front of her body and you just bring her upwards as close to your body as possible? Can she climb on the sofa yet? The higher you can get her to climb up before you try to pick her up, the less strain on you. It is awful isn't it? We take so much for granted until we can't do it. Good luck hun and hope you can sort something out. Is is a temporary injury or likely to be permanent? xx
