I wish I had some great suggestions, but I am in the same predicament. My daughter is almost 7 months old and I still can't get her to take a bottle. I want to go away this summer for a weekend and I won't be able to if she doesn't take one. The only thing she will drink out of is a sippy cup. I love Munchkin with the handles because she can just bite down and some liquid will come out. I have just started giving her formula in a sippy cup the last couple days. She makes weird faces but will drink a tiny bit. I am going to try every day in the afternoon and hopefully I will get her to drink enough from the cup. Good Luck!

try letting someone else feed him with you out of the room and see what happens and no peeking around the corner.

try avent bottles and the nipples from birth onwards.. but not variable flow ones. the single flow ones.. try giving him water through the bottle and then you can see if the bottle is the real problem..

my 6 mos old would not take a bottle, so I got 6+ Nuby bpa free sippy cups (they have handles) and he loves them. Make sure not to get a sippy with a stopper, they can deform the roof of the mouth. feel free to message me for more info!

Yeah mine too. Iv tried giving her from cups, bottles etc but she refuses to drink but when i gave her an open cup, she seems interested to drink.
Btw does anyone has any idea how often does a 1 year old baby suppose to feed on breast milk per day?

Been there, done that! My first decided on my second day back to work that she wasn't going to drink from a bottle. After trying every type of bottle I found at the drugstore on my way home, she would drink from the Platex NaturaLatch Drop-In bottles. We also learned that putting her in a bouncy seat facing the adult worked better than cradling her like she would be held to nurse. Of course at 6 months old you have a lot more options than I did (mine was 3 months). Like Krystal said, you could try a sippy cup or a straw cup. You could also try using a spoon and feeding her the milk like soup. My mother-in-law babysat for her niece when she was about 6 months and also refused to take a bottle. I think she said she taught her to drink from an open cup. Hope this helps, and good luck!

hi Lindsay, i only left my baby a couple of times only as i'm very worried that she'll go hungry. The last time i left her with my mom when she was 5mths old, doing freelance job. Then, i received phone calls from my mom that my baby refuses to drink from bottles and it has been few hours and she has been crying. Since then i don't dare leaving her alone for a long hours. You see, i was so worried being a first time mummy. I guess with your advice, i shall try to leave her more often in other people's hand and see if she'll finally drink from bottles. Btw, do you have any idea if it convenient to get Dr Brown's bttl in S'pore?

Will he take a bottle from anyone else? Both of my children refused to take a bottle from me, but eventually agreed to take a bottle from my husband and grandparents. It took them a little while to get used to the bottle and they both demonstrated their displeasure with it, but when they got hungry, they ate! I also had to try all different kinds of bottles and finally found that the Dr. Brown's bottles were best for them. I've heard that sometimes you need to get a good, experienced mother to convince your baby to take a bottle and you can't be around at all. Once he gets used to it, he won't be so stubborn about it. Good luck!

hi i know how stress u r. My baby girl is now 1 years old and still so attached to my breast. iv been trying to give her from bottles and cups ever since she's 4mths but to no avail even though i have express my milk out. A friend of mine suggest that i try giving her in between meals. Now she's beginning to drink water n my express milk in bottles n cups but only at times. There r days wen she refuses to drink at all but only from breast. We just have to be very patient.
Good luck to both of us.

i dont know how many 'many' is but ive know some women who have tried upwards of 30 different ones before baby would take one. try all sorts of different nipples (i had luck with the first years breast flow). also, perhaps you could try introducing a sippy cup. i think my pedi suggested that around 7 months, but if yours is ready for it now go for it. that way you won't have to break him of the bottle! you can try soft or hard spout's, or even a flexible plastic kid straw (munchkin makes a great spill proof one!). i know it seems early for a straw but my daughter mastered it on her first try at 7 months. one thing to try would be to 'trick' your son into taking the bottle. i would nurse and without taking my son out of the nursing position i would sneak the bottle in his mouth when he would stop sucking to swallow. he would only take a sip or two from the bottle at first but eventually he did fine. i know a lot of babies won't take a bottle from mommy but will someone else that the baby is comfortable with - such as daddy or caregiver - and mommy cannot be in the same room. however i found my son would not eat from anyone but me (whether nursing or bottle).
good luck!
