I was just wondering what other people though about how Mitt addressed the black community saying he could relate because his family in the 1800's owed slaves....?

Lakota:"I am not your resident republican or your friend. Your eyes are bugging out from ignorance and hate for people who think different."
Lakota, let's just call the "my friend" comment sarcasm.
As for you being our resident republican, until you prove otherwise I do not see you as one of the Obama supporters for whom this community was created. I call them like I see them.
I find it telling that you did not mention the sustenance of my comment which was that the Romney report was a spoof and yet you were willing to defend him.
Your assessment of me is interesting, but so off the mark that I find no purpose in responding to it.
ETA: I deleted the part that you may have found offensive.

I think it's funny that our resident republican, Lakota Believes, assumed Mitt actually said that and excused him for it. You, my friend, are quite the apologist of unethical rhetoric. Stop now, you are making my eyes bug out too much! lol
O.o

Maretta - no, I totally missed this. And my first response (from a chalk white girl) it "are you shitting me????"
I really wish this guy would quit trying to relate to people by referring to his own "struggles." wtf.
I'm going to see if I can find a link for the Mitt speech.
Okay, I feel better... apparently it was a spoof. Here's the snopes.com report on it:

What's really sad is that the political atmosphere is so extreme that it really is difficult to discern the propaganda, talking points and rhetoric from a spoof - there really is no clear line anymore.

I think that the liberal press and liberal people who can't think for themselves will turn that into something ignorant and ugly instead of trying to understand what he meant. It didn't make a whole lot of sense to me either. But, he isn't a racist or a bigot. The liberal biased media will paint him as that anyway. Learn to think on your own.
