Okay my 11 year old has started middle school and she has asked me to have her eyebrows done because unlike her sister and me her eyebrow are bushy and don't lay naturally smooth. i feel her pain but i feel she is too young. She also wants contacts she has worn glasses for 4 years and now wants to get rid of them. Am i being a prude I was totally caught off guard by this because this was the child that could careless about appearance and told me she would only wear dresses to church. I am asking if i am being a prude or is this normal. I was a tomboy and did not think of these things until i was almost 30. Help!!!

As long as it's for the right reasons, I wouldn't say she is too young. For example the wrong reason could be to look more attractive to boys, that I would be against (not where a young girl's mind should be focusing), but it seems that she is wanting changes for herself and her self confidence. I would support that. I was a tomboy myself growing up, but I did start plucking my brows around the age of your daughter (between 11-14 not sure exactly when). I didn't have glasses, but I know that I wouldn't want to continue wearing them when there was an alternative. Maybe first let her do her eye brows on a regular basis, and if she handles that well with her behavior ect, then discuss the responsibilities that go with contacts before you just go out and get them.
