All I could find was the email address for the National office...it's wichq-web@fns.usda.gov.  Hope that helps!  If you circulate a letter, I will totally sign it and I'm sure others will, too!  I think the juice instead of fresh fruit/veggies and whole grain bread is absolutely appalling.  There are a host of valid scientific studies showing the benefits of healthy eating from a young age.  Bringing that to WIC's attention might help...?

wic should also be offering better support for breastfeeding mothers.
i know that in some areas the support is quite substantial but in many other areas it is overwhelmingly lacking.

Yeah, I don't really know how WIC works. It's a government program but I don't know how it's regulated or anything. It's suppose to be there so kids are getting nutritious foods, but some of the stuff really isn't all that nutritious. It's so frustrating! I'm not sure who we should talk to you though.

Absolutely, I would trade all juice for bread and fruit/veggies!  Now the question is....what do we do to try and fix this?!!

Quoting Leah:

Isn't that the truth? And you know what else? Vegetables and fruit! Fresh. My doctor says my 2 year old shouldn't be drinking any juice, because it's so full of sugar, but we get a lot of juice from WIC. Why aren't they giving us stuff we really need? If they want our kids to be healthy, they should really change the way they do things.

I agree with you...why give unnecessary items when they could save money on necessary ones...

Before I met my hubby I was on WIC in the states and the ladies (nutritionist) would always complain about giving juice and saying they should eat fresh fruits and veggies instead of juice because of the vitamins minerals and fiber! But when your on a budget which I was before I met my hubby because I was a single mom raising my son on my own  while going to college and work it can get expensive to buy fresh fruits and veggies all the timeSo I do agree with you...WIC should consider revising their options...!!!
