Lack of Respect!

[deleted account] ( 4 moms have responded )

I am so disgusted with the lack of respect President Obama receives! I thought we were "over" this "he's indoctrinating our kids with socialist propaganda" nonsense! This morning however, I hear that in the South and the Mid West, children had to have permission slips signed, authorizing them to watch the President's "Welcome Back to School" speech today! Really??? What is so terrible about OUR President encouraging kids to work hard, study and dream big?? Isn't that what the President is supposed to do???

When I was growing up, the "office" of the Presidency was given much more respect. My teachers, my parents and my community impressed upon me that the President was the most respected and most revered man in the world. Whether you agreed with him or not, whether you felt he represented you or not, it was almost blasphemous to speak against your President. He was given respect no matter what!

When the liberal and progressives spoke out against George Bush, they were condemned by the Republicans. They were labeled "unpatriotic" and "un American". What they're doing to Barack Obama is unethical and immoral. It is unconscionable how they speak about him. It is so hateful and derogatory and disrespectful! It is really sad!

@ Amy: Are you serious?! That just sickens me. We actually have a president who has a lot to offer. My husband and I really like this guy - he has had so much unbelievable opposition from the Republicans in the Senate, it's a wonder he's accomplished anything. He's actually gotten quite a few things done. But the way people talk about him and treat him is simply deplorable. I am just sick.

Yeah my daughter told me and my husband that kids in her class "can't wait until 2012 so we can get a white president". I was absolutely disgusted. She is 6 and in 1st grade. Obviously the parents are saying these things in front of thier kids. I sent an e-mail to my daughters teacher. Her teacher said there was not much she could do about it...which I understand but it just upsets me.
