my son is having an issue with monsters lately. How have any of you handled this situation if it has come up with your children?

We dont have a monster issue, but we have a ghost issue.

We still arent sure how to deal with it. Only one of her ghosts isnt nice, the others (and there are about 30 of them, and she can name every single one and they are all TOTALLY different from one another) are nice and help her.

When we did have monsters during the day I had her draw the monsters, and when she drew them I would get her to draw something that could destroy that monster (cause we all know each monster has to be destroyed in a different way lol).

When she was done drawing the picture we'd go to her room with it and show the monster the picture, and tell him/her that if they didnt live now then this is whats going to happen to them. It worked. Was time consuming but it worked, and she used her imagination and got some good coloring time in when i was cleaning haha.

Her bad ghosts only comes every couple of weeks so we dont mind her having a sleep over with us when that happens. We told her though if the bad ghosts starts to come more she isnt going to be able to sleep with us every time.

he's got monsters everywhere in his room. He's afraid to be alone in his bedroom. Monster spray quit working, but for a while the monsters disappeared. They are back and worse now and the monster spray doesn't work. He's a worrier by nature and I'm not sure if he's worried about his biological dad and is blaming the fear on monsters.

What type of monster issues, i.e. under his bed at night, etc.? Have you tried "Monster Spray"? I remember hearing about this technique on an old Oprah show. Take a small squirt bottle and fill it with water. Depending on when the monsters appear, allow the child to spritz the area with "Monster Spray" to clear away the monsters. For example, if the monsters appear before bedtime, then spritz underneath the bed to rid the area of the monsters.
