Biting / sucking lower lip

My son now has this bad habit. It drives me mad. Keep trying to remind him. Keep trying to pull back his lower lip. But still he sucks his lower lip again right away. I will then lose my patient. Often yell and scold him. Even ever slapped his lips for few times till he cried. I feel that I'm so bad. I must never yelled, scolded, even slapped him. But I can't help it. Anyone with any good advices? Please help me..........

Hi Stacey, thank you for your reply. Yup, I shouldn't yell or scold him in the first place. I was just trying to take it easy. He didn't take pacifier. It could be his way to pacify himself. Anyway, he's grown out the habit. I don't remember when he did. Thanks again for replying. Take care.

It could be that he's teething, and his lip/gums are sore or feel funny. I think you need to just let him be, and he'll stop. Definitely don't yell or scold him for it, he probably doesn't realize what he's doing, he is only 1.
