My little girl's weight is 20 lbs and I have never seen a smaller 2 year old. When she was born she weighed 5.5 lbs. THe docter said she is under weight but he did some tests just to see that her iron isn't to low. It was to low and now I give a suppliment. Maybe you can just check your little girls iron. I know the grandparents and older people can make you crazy complaining about their weight. Good luck.

It is important to take your doctors input into your own preception, if they aren't worried, you shouldn't either. Both of my children are very tall, and very thin. It's just who they are. My son is in the 85% for height, and the 20% for weight. It was even more drastic for my daughter. What is more important than the actually measure are the rate of change. If you child continues to grow on the same curve, it's just her normal. Be more conserned if she stays the same weight or looses wieght. Sometimes low iron can affect appetiete, so ask your Peds about the appropriateness of a suppliment. Keep trying lots of differant healthy foods, stay away from simple sugars, and expect that you will have to offer something MANY times before she'll like it. Keep your head up, your a good Mom!

Just a help full hint, All the weight to height ratio charts are developed on Formula fed babies who on average are bigger then breastfed babies. So if your child is on the lower side of the chart that could be why. All children are individuals, Adults don't fit a mould so why should children! My son is 27months 92.5cm tall and 27pds, everybody comments that hes so big but it's all height there isn't an ounce of fat on him.
My daughter weighed 23 lbs at her 2 year check up and the doc told me that as long as she's growing and eating she's fine. Both of my kids are skinny minnies but they are perfectly healthy. They just have high metabolism. I wouldn't worry to much unless ahe isn't eating anything.

My daughter born 10-15-07 now weighs 27 lbs.and she is 36 inches. She was 7lbs. 6 oz. at birth. She just never gained weight quickly. Our peditrician is happy with her development. He says there's nothing wrong with a skinny baby :) She is very active and a healthy eater. The only problem is clothes..pants especially . She could wear 12-18 months if they weren't too short. We have to get 2T and try to find adjustable waists so they won't fall off.

My daughter is 37 inches tall and weighs 35 pounds. She's always been very muscular-looking (like her daddy) she has a mini 6 pack and crazy muscles in her back. She has been in a 3t for a few months, and by the way she is eating, I'm glad I didnt buy too many clothes in that size b/c she is about to go through another growth spurt very soon! I think she's perfect though :)

sadie weighs 23 lbs. and she'll probably stay at that weight until the next growth spurt. she's consistant, at least. she eats when she's hungry, not lethargic or overly sleepy, and has a very healthy activity level...perhaps a little too healthy! the girl won't sit still. unless the incredibles are on. her legs are all muscle. but the doc said, if she's happy and generally healthy, it's no big! they'll eat when they're hungry.
sadie only gains weight when she's growing but it is never very much

My angel was 6 10' when was born and is 36 lbs??? abouts I think she has thinned out a bit. I know she is taller then she is in weight 38 inches tall. Were in size 6 diapers and size 4t clothes but she has always been 95%. She is a breastfeed baby to this day and I would never regret any of it. She has been sick one in her whole life. But sometimes I wish i had a more normal sized daughter she can't wear jeans all are way to tight- i wish she could wear those cute jeans from the Children's place

My daughter only weighs 22 lbs as of yesterday. I used a weight scale, give or take 1-2 lbs. She is 2 years and 3 months and she is still breastfeeding. She was loosing a lot of weight when I tried weaning her at 12 months, so I had to put her back to breastfeeding. She refuses to drink cow's milk, only if I had chocolate syrup/cocoa.
She has always been a petite girl. Now, i'm trying to figure out how to wean her off again.

my daughter who is 2 now is 26lb, was 7lb 9oz when born and has always found it hard to put on weight. we always struggle getting her to eat but don't let it stress us out, was stressing her out more when we were getting annoyed. She eats when she wants to and grazes throughout the day. she is brilliant at eating a variety of foods and especially loves all fruit and veg which i am very happy with. My 4 month old son however weighed 10lb at birth and now weighs about 17lb 5oz, so just goes to show that all children are different. He's beastfed too and is constantly feeding... hopefully he'll continue like this when weaning and my daughter will start copying him!

My son is about as average as they come. However his big sister was on weight checks for the first several years of her life. Our ped. was excellent but at the time we were on WIC and I almost always would leave those apts. in tears because they would basically threaten me that I wasn't doing my job, when it was not in my control. So I feel extra protective of the little kids, because I've been there! Some kids are just small! My daughter is almost 4"9 and she just finally hit the 50lbs. She is 9 years old. She is always going to be very slender. Her weight gain registers at the very bottom of the chart... but its curving normally... which is all that matters. However finding pants that fit her is near impossible sometimes. All i have to say is thank GOD for adjustable elastic waists!!!! :)
My 2 yr old son is 30+ lbs. now.... I think my daughter was 4 or 5 yrs old when she finally weighted that much LOL

My daughter is in the same boat. She was 6lbs when she was born and just now weighs 24 lbs. We have been having to do the one thing most moms would say no too. We have to let her eat anything and EVERYTHING she wants. Not so much to make her gain the instant weight, but she is having open heart surgery in Feb. and they wanted me to "fatten" her up so that after the surgery she doesnt loose too much weight!
