My daughter is mixed (Portuguese and Black) and I am having a hard time with her hair. It is very curly, and very soft, and I absolutely love the curls. But I can’ seem to find a product that will help keep the curls all day long. I wanna just leave it out every once in a while, and not up in ponytails or pigtails. I refuse to use oil in her hair, but I really don’t know what else to use. Can anyone help me??

My daughter has soft curly hair also. We only wash it once a week & we ALWAYS use conditioner. Biosilk makes a wonderful product called silk therapy (available at salon or Sally's). After she gets out of the bath I run a small amount thru her hair & let it air dry. We can leave it down for the entire day. The next day we have to wet her hair down & comb out the tangles with a large pick.

My daughter is bi-racial as well (black and polish). First. why do you refuse to use oil in her hair? If it is dry enough to warrant it, then why no do it? Second, there is a product for biracial hair that works really well. It's called "mixed Chicks" www.mixedchicks.com. Third, don't wash it every day. That dries it out. Wash it once to swice a week and rinse it the rest of the time. Fourth, ALWAYS use conditioner.
My daughter's hair is very sofy and curly but there is almost no "kink" so I just wash her hair once or twice a week, then spritz with water and "Just for Me-detangler and Conditioning spray" before styling with a wide toothed comb. After that she's good to go, and if she's playing really hard and it gets fuzzy I just run my hands in water and run my fingers through her hair and it's back to perfect!
You'll have to find what works for her, here's some products you can try:
Mixed Chicks
Just For Me
Curly Q's
Curly Sexy Hair
Kera Care

Good Luck!

Garnier Fruitese has a line just for curls. Also try the salons and see if they might be able to help.
