Is your 2 year old potty trained yet?

My daughter is 2 years and 3months. Her best friend, who is 2 months older, just became potty trained. I'm working on it with her, but she still has lots of accidents and hasn't yet made "poopy" in the potty. Only pee pee. I am 4 1/2 months pregnant right now and would really like her to be potty trained before the baby arrives. So my question is how many of you have your 2 year olds potty trained and what advice can you offer those of us still struggling?

my little girl is 26 months old and is potty trained with no accidents in the day but wears nappies in the night. i started by leaving her bottom half naked and kept the potty in the living room. to start with there were more accidents than anything but slowly used the potty more and more. i gave her lots of praise when she used it. i made a mistake the first time she went because i was so pleased with her i let her have a chocolate but it did work. and after a few days i said no choccies she still used the potty anyway. well after a few days she was so used to seeing me using the toilet she wanted to use that (maybe your daughter would rather go straight to the toilet) we had a little step and toilet seat at the ready. i also started putting knickers on her (not that she keeps them on for long) if she did start to go she would stop and run to the toilet. we go out with just knickers now and no accidents. best advice tho go at her pace try a few things give her time and if it doesnt work leave it a few weeks and try again. good luck!

my baby is the same age, and she is potty trained. We have very few accidents. She does really well and we started early. She was 13 mo old when we gave her her potty, and we potty trained her last summer while it was warm enough for her to run around naked. It took 8 days, and then after that it was accident control for a few months. When you decide, give yourself 8 whole days at home, with no where to go, and lots of liquids and foods that make her thirsty. If she catches on to anything fast (rules, songs, abcs, numbers, etc) it will be a piece of cake. Also, let her decide, by asking if she wants to be a big girl, and if she wants to wear big girl panties. It worked like a charm!

I attempted to train my daugher, who is also 26 month old but shows no interest in potty training. I've used M&M's as a reward, used a sticker char, praised her for sitting on her potty but no luck at making her 'go'.
I've had to stop because she started crying as soon as I sat her in her potty... I certainly did not want her to feel pressured to go to the rest room.... I'll be trying again in a couple of months.

my son has been trained during the day with only one or two accidents for about two months, he still has a diaper for bed, but i am trying to work on that now as well. just have patience. and i never used pull ups. only real underwear, this way they can feel the wet right away.

Im starting and im finding the most success in just letting him go without any nappies and just undies and leaving the potty out in the common areas of the house like the loungeroom. His been going well but does not go anywhere else such as daycare but i figure one step at a time.

My daughter is the same age, and has taken to the Potty really easily. All it took were knickers! I had her in training pants, and was trying to get her to use the potty, but she wasn't interested! Once she wore the same underwear as the rest of us however, it seemed to click for her! Conversely however, my older son wasn't so easy to train. He was OK with pee's, but wouln't entertain the thought of doing a poopy in the potty until he was 3-and-a-half and his baby sister came along. All kids do it at their own pace unfortunately. Perhaps it is a little easier for us Mums with older kids, as our younger charges see their older siblings using the loo and they want to be just like them??? Regardless, don't stress over the fact that you know of other kids about the same age who are using the potty. All kids develop at different speeds. What your daughter does well, others the same age might not do at all! It will happen when she's ready to take the next step. Just enjoy her being where she is now, and don't worry!
