Also, remember that pre-school is a choice. You don't have to put your child into one at all if you don't want to. My daughter is naturally really social and has had a close playmate for 2 years so she has already learned sharing and how to treat another child kindly. She is far beyond her almost 3 years when it comes to accepting others and playing with children with different abilities so I have chosen not to put her in pre-school. However, I have the privilege of being a SAHM so I can do this.

My son has also just started going to Pre-school and he loves it the whole structure that they have going there and also learning from a younger age i believe gives him an advantage for when he gets older

As soon as your little one can start talking and is fully potty trained that way they can tell you whats happening at school.

It depends on what you want for your child. I am personally going to take the stance that my daughter is still a little child and doesn't need to have structured play and academics this young. She has plenty of time with other children via playdates, gymnastics, library groups, and relatives that I believe with little intervention she'll be perfectly ready for kindergarten when that time arrives. But I also have the freedom of being a stay-at-home mom. If I wasn't and didn't have the time to teach her myself about shapes, numbers, and the alphabet, I'd say 3 is perfect. Also, look at your our kid. Does he/she socialize well already? Then don't bother if you don't have to. Enjoy your child's youngest carefree years.

whenever she is ready. I start teaching mine as soon as we start singing. we sing the alphabet, number songs, color games, shape games, and so on.

my little boy is 2 and all the pre schools ive got his name down for dont start till he is 2 and a half so that is the age he will be going into one, and have the option of him staying there till he is 5 years old insted of going to a nursery or start him off in the pre school then take him out to put him into a nursery, not made my mind up yet. x

I personally have found that at 3 years old they are ready. I have 3 children and have had much success with starting them at 3. They are potty trained and are learning to express themselves so why not with other children their age? Many lessons can be learned such as, sharing, controlling themselves by watching others, socialization, and structure!
I hope this gives you an idea. Of course do what you think is best for your child though :)

whenever u think is right my boy started around 1 and now i have taken him out so i can toilet train him, then he will start his new school with no accidents. Start slow and build up u will know if they r enjoying it. Even when they cry, my son learnt some life lessons i could not teach him like sharing and standing up for him self also independance.
