my baby was doing great slowly transitioning to solids. i breastfed almost exclusively till 6 months when we started trying new soft foods. she was doing great and was eating blackbeans, whole blueberries, tomatoes, bread, small pastas, corn, strawberries, etc,. at 9 1/2 months she had 5 teeth and (two weeks ago) i started trying to feed her actual meals of food, along with breastfeeding. but now - all of a sudden - she refuses to eat! she'll eat small, buttered pieces of toast, or cheese, but refuses the things that used to be her favorites. she pushes everything out with her tongue like shes an infant and rubs her face and throws the food on the ground.

i'm getting so frustrated!! i was ready to slowly wean her and hoping the solids would get her to sleep more through the night. she was nursing less, sleeping more. but now i'm not producing as much milk and she refuses food.

i want to just refuse to nurse until bedtime and figure if she's hungry enough, she'll eat. but i dont know if thats too harsh. i usually was completely in favor of following her lead, but shes refusing foods that i know she CAN EAT and DID LIKE so its so frustrating.

any advice or experience??????? please?

i read something today that said "you control what you put in front of them. they control what they eat." as long as we're putting healthy food options to them theyre not going to starve. i also read not to make eating time a "contest of wills" which i was totally doing. so i just dumped the food on her tray and did the dishes. she made a mess and probably only a bit got in her mouth, but i made her a totally new meal tonight (our meal, tilapia pieces and cous cous with tiny pieces of broccolli florets) and she ate it UP. applesauce too.

i have a feeling a less exciting/yummy lunch tomorrow will NOT meet with the same results, lol.

OMG - I am having this problem too! He was eating just fine (vegetables and now onto fruits) and now will have like, two bites of food and then totally clams up! I do some probably not very nice things, but I try to make him laugh and when he opens his mouth I try to shovel some in. Sometimes he gets pissed and he'll cry, and that's another good opportunity to offer him some more. I thought with fruits that he would love eating - but he likes his veggies I guess!

If you figure something out - let me know! Good luck to us!
