3 mo. growth spurt

I've read that babies go through a growth spurt around 3 mo. My daughter will be 3 mo. Jan. 11th and just yesterday she started wanting to nurse twice as much as usual. She usually sleeps 10-11 hours a night with 2 feeds...but last night she woke up every 2 hours or so crying (she never cries at night) with her fist in her mouth and hungry. This has continued today, she is fussier than usual, clingy (tired from less sleep last night probably) and is wanting to nurse twice as often. Could this be a growth spurt? Has anyone else seen this with their baby? Or maybe she's fighting off a bug or something ? (I hope not!) Should I be concerned? Could she be teething?

I would say it is a growth spurt, Chase will be 3 months on Sunday and for the past 5 days has been eating 8oz of formula every 1-2 hours and sleep pretty much all day and night. He is very clingy also.

thanks everybody...yep, sure enough, this lasted two days and two nights and she's back to her usual self now. A growth spurt must have been what she was going through.

I find that when mine goes through her growth spurts, she eats and sleeps, and that's pretty much it.. It usually only lasts about 2 days maybe 3, and she's back to normal, but I wouldn't worry too much about it.

Sounds like a growth spurt to me. My daughter is 3 months today and we are going through the same thing. Nursing every 1 3/4-2 hrs during the day and waking every 4 hrs at night. She usually sleeps 6-8 hours at night. She's been doing this for 2 days now so hopefully it won't last too much longer.

Hi, my daughter will be 3 mo on Jan 10th, so very close in age to your's. I also think she just had a 2-day-long growth spurt yesterday and the day before. She fed every 2 hrs insead of every 3-4 hrs throughout the day and would get very fussy before a feeding, which is unlike her. Normally she just whines a bit and is happy between feedings. I, too, worried that she was sick since we were around plenty of sick people over the holidays. I also wondered about early teething. However, last night she slept well and today she is back to her normal happy self. She also breastfed for lots of minutes both of the "tough" days - about a 100 min/day vs. her normal 75-80 minutes. Because she's happy today and feeing every 3-4 hrs again, I'm confident it was just a growth spurt. Because of the similarity of symptoms and ages, I'm guessing your daughter was going through the same thing. Good luck.

it could bea growth spurt or witht he fist in her mouth and being fussy.. it makes me thinking teething which could last months before actually getting a tooth
