I wonder how many of you moms with October born babies live in a State whose Law requires your child to be 5 by September 30th to start kindergarten, like I do... UGH!!! Clark County, Las Vegas, NV requires my son to be 4 before Sept. 30th to start pre k and my sons birthday is October 2nd. My son is sooo excited to learn he wants to go to school and I hate to have to be the one to tell him no for another year. My older son will turn 5 in 2013 in October and In September 2013 my younger son will be 4. My older son will not be able to start kindergarten until 2014, the same year my younger son will start. It is really unfair that since my son's birthday is 2 days late he will be a year behind :(

Are birth certificates required? I'm not feeling the wait, just because my daughter was born Oct 5, she's intelligent and ready to learn.

I'm having the same problem! It sucks! Our 3 year was born Oct 6th and he has to be 4 before the September deadline. He won't be able to start school til he's 6 years old. My husband had the same problem. I'd like to put him in SOME kind of school, but we can't afford anything at the moment. They should extend the deadline by some. We need to get enough parents to petition maybe it will happen. lol.

I've been wondering about that. Same school policy here and my daughter's bday is Oct 2nd. I wonder if they placed preschool/kindergarten ready, would they waive them? I'm not so worried about preschool because where i live, it's for lower income families and therefore we can't get in. But I am for kindergarten!! Preschool is expensive and not worth paying another year of it when she could be in kindergarten!
