Hey there, I'm looking for birthday ideas for my 2 year old son. Gift ideas, party ideas, theme ideas. We went with the Disney Pixar's Cars theme last year, so that's out of the question this year. Limited budget, keep that in mind.

Here's some things my son likes:
The outdoors.
Anything that makes noise.
Tractors.

Basically, he's an outdoorsy type of kid, he's just like his father. His father is a lobsterman, and he had an idea to do like, a nautical theme for Tyler's birthday. What do you think? His father was thinking about getting a bunch of nautical theme stuff, and getting a net or something from work and making something to hang up in Tyler's bedroom. If you like this idea, do you know of anywhere online I can find nautical-themed items?

Second idea, John Deere. His father is a redneck at heart and loves the outdoors more than life itself. I've found so many John Deere things we could get not only for Tyler, but for party items as well. But the only thing I can't seem to find, is bedding that would fit a toddler bed. Any ideas??

I'm open to any suggestions, or opinions. I need help on this ladies!! His birthday is coming right up, October 24th so I need to get goin!!! =] Please send me an email on my Circle of Moms account!!

Thank you!!

For my son's first birthday we had an outdoorsy/fish theme... You can find all sorts of stuff at dollar stores and in the dollar bins at Target and Walmart. We made poster board signs with fish on them and had the party at a campground. It was pot-luck style, so there was plenty of food, but we didn't have to dish out the cash. We told people to bring food instead of a gift, but of course people brough both... It was TONS of fun! You can have a little blow up pool there too... if you don't want to worry about kids and the water, put foam fish in it with magnets on them and make a fishing pole out of a stick, some string and a magnet on the end. LOTS of FUN! Instead of doing a real "theme" just do decor with COLORS - all shades of greens and blues for the water and outdoors. Things are much less expensive in plain colors. : ) Of course this year I'm at a loss of what to do b/c it turned out so great last year! LOL!

for your nautical theme- An idea for getting your hands on low budget netting is to go to your local golf course and ask if they have any cut offs from the protective netting they use to keep the balls from flying off the course. We did this and used the net to baby proof the pond in our back yard. It looks exactly like fishing netting.. Best of all it was FREE! My son has recently discovered the joy of holding conch shells to his ear to hear the sea so that might be a good idea for goodie bags. You could give him a goldfish in a bowl in his room for his birthday. If he's anything like my son (who is actually born on the same day) he'll love laying in his bed and watching his fish and feeding it every day. for party games you could get those little dollar store magnetic fish and fishing polls and the kids could go fishing. You could also do a shell hunt. like an easter egg hunt around your house or in your back yard. If your planning of having it outdoors you could get sand, pre-mix it with water and build sand castles in one of those little toy pools! Anyway, I think that's all I have lol! Good luck!
PS If you're wanting to go with a John Deere theme quilts are very easy to make and if you have simple sewing skills and a sewing machine then you could very easily make bedding yourself.

Have you looked online for toddler bedding? My son is crazy over Thomas the Train and we had to order him the bedding offline. Go to google shopping and type in John Deer toddler bedding, most places will ship it free if its over 25 and most bedding will be at least that.

For a nautical themed birthday party try this website:

Good Luck :)

you should do a bug themed party. make chocolate cupcakes with gummy worms, chocolate covered ants...things like that! oreos for dirt... i plan to do that one of these years for my daughters bday but this particular year we are doing a fruit theme! since shes a halloween baby i always go with the theme of her costume! last year she was a tiger so we did a jungle theme!
