I have had to eliminate both dairy and soy proteins.  I drink a lot of rice milk and take a calcium supplement.  I also drink calcium enriched juices.  Rice Dream is a pretty good brand for rice milk.  It takes a little getting used to but I like it now.  Rice Dream also makes an "ice cream" I don't care for it that much though.  Coconut Bliss is an "ice cream" made from coconut milk.  That is very tasty!  If you need to cut out both dairy and soy, make sure to avoid almost all fast food - most of their meats include soy protein and breads have dairy.  Sourdough bread and pita bread are ok.  Make sure to read labels well.  Soy lethin (which is an emulsifier) and soy oil seem to be ok for us.  Nucoa margerine is dairy free and is made w/ soy oil.

I know lots of women that have to eliminate dairy also have to eliminate soy, but not all. If your son still shows signs of his allergies, I would check for hidden sources of dairy in processed foods and also take out soy. I am not on an elimination diet, but this is what I have heard to do.

You know my girlfriend is having this same issue. I just started babysitting her son today. Because all of her pumped milk was from when she was eating dairy, I'm having to supplement with a little formula which is soy. I'd imagine that soy products are okay for you to eat but I honestly don't know.

I will say that the change in her son was immediate. He stopped fussing as much and just seemed to be a happier baby. I hope the same for you!
