Has anyone had to go to the next size car seat yet? We just bought one and realized it doesn't allow rear face. Just wondering if anyone else is having to move up to the next car seat and what they are doing?

I haven't had to buy a new carseat yet since my daughter is only a little over 17lbs and the limit is 22lbs on the infant carrier. I'll probably buy one after she turns one cause she might be too long since she is 27.5 inches and the limit is 29. I'll probably buy the 3 in 1, but definatley one that can rear face and forward face.

We went with the Britax Boulevard and the Recaro convertible. We love both!

Omgoshhh..you all must have strict laws/restrictions where you all live.

Here in Australia, babies only have to be rear - facing until they're 8 kgs, so that's around 4 m.o.-ish for biggish babies. My DD didn't reach 8 kgs until she was 9.5 m.o. LOL however, I had her forward facing at 4 m.o. She can use the same car seat until she is 4 y.o.

we have one that goes both ways, is your baby over 20lbs? It is usually safe to turn them around if they are over 20lbs and can hold their head and back unsupported

My daughter has been in the next size up since June, when we discovered she was too round for her carrier. We got an Eddie Bauer 3-in-1 which can rear face to 35lbs, and I intend to keep her rear face for as long as possible. This seat also goes to 100lbs (as a booster) and seeings how boosters are now mandatory here for children under age 9, I won't need another seat with her.

My son has been in a bigger seat since the beginning of july. We found a great one at toys'r'us. Its a Frist years and has a removable headrest so It fit great in the back of our car, it is super easy to install and the cover comes off easy to wash. I recommend it. Also it goes up to 65 pounds.

my son has been in the next stage up for about 2-3 months now he was too tall for the infant carrier. We have a seat that faces forwards as well as backwards. We have 2 different seats actually, one witha 5 point harness and 1 with an arm thing that goes down in front of him, we prefere the harness. Good luck

you need to go by the requirements of the car seat.......should be rear facing atleast until one and I believe around 30 lbs.......they can fold their legs if they are too long....rear facing is best.....

It depends on the requirements of the seat...my daughter is too long to be rear facing and meets all the proper requirements

how tall is your daughter? my son is over 99% on growth charts for height always has been and he fit find in a rear seat past 1...it has NOTHING to do with their legs

We bought the Graco My Ride because it allows them to ride rear facing longer than any other car seat (which is safer than forward facing). It has great safety features and the cover is removable so you can wash it unlike some others seats out there. It is also airplane approved if you ever need to fly.

you should be using a rear facing convertible seat so you need to return the one you bought and purchase the correct seat

We just bought are next size up carseat this past week. I would try and take yours back if it doesn't allow rear facing. I actually returned a couple untill I found one that I really like. I figured he is going to be in it for a while and I wanted one that I liked all the features on. We had to buy 2 one for my parents to have and one for us.. We bought a Britax Marathon for us and a Graco My Ride 65 for my parents.. Both seat are rear facing up to either 35-40 lbs. and forward until 65. We haven't gotten our Britax yet (ordered it on line) But we love the Graco and sure we will the Britax too. I know the carseat hunt is confusing and frustrating.. there our SOO many to choose from.

My son moved into the next step when he was 5 months old. He hit 19lbs and I was afraid of him going over my car seats limit. We bought Evenflo Symphony™ featuring SureLatch™ All-In-One Car Seat in Liberty ... and I have to say I LOVE IT!! It's very easy to install and use.

The Symphony™ all-in-one car seat is for use rear facing with children 5 to 35 lbs, forward facing with 5-point harness with children 20 to 40 lbs, or forward facing as a belt positioning booster with children 30 to 100 lbs.

Figured it saved us money in having to buy more car seats as he grows..

Yes, my tall little one is now over the height limit (29") of the Snugride, so we had to buy a convertible seat. We bought the Britax Roundabout, which goes to 35 lb rear facing, and 40 lbs forward facing. I intend to use it rear facing up to or close to the max allowable weight, because it is the safest way for children to ride. The 20 lbs and 1 year old requirements are the bare minimum that a child must meet before being turned forward, but should ideally be kept rear facing well beyond that, according to the safety experts.

Yes, we just moved up last week. We bought a seat that is rear facing up to 40lbs and forward facing up to 65lbs. Can you take back the one you bought and buy one that allows rear facing? I really want to keep my LO rear facing as long as possible, so it was a good investment I think. Where I live they have to be at least 20lbs AND 12 months old to be forward facing, not one or the other.

My son is getting ready to go up soon. In CA, the law states that they can go into the next size when they are 1 year or 25 lbs. My son Landon is 25 lbs 8 oz so he technically could go up now.
