Hi, My daughter has Eczema on her hands. She has treatments for her face etc but I don't use these on her hands as her hands are almost permanently in her mouth. Is there anything you can suggest that we could use that won't do any harm if some were ingested?? I imagine that the eczema would sting & itch, it looks painful.

My little girl had it almost everywhere at one point and besides the hydro-cortizone the doc gave samples of 'intense moisture cream by Johnsons soothing naturals'. Also he gave samples of 'Aquaphor from Eucerin gentle wash/shampoo'. I use that all the time now. I absent-mindedly washed my little girl with reg. strength wash a couple of times and that is what dried her skin out so bad. Now I am mindful to use very gentle ingredients on her skin. I've heard Aveeno for babies is soothing, also. If mine gets the rash again I'm def gonna use that.

Maybe you can put the medicine on her hands right before bed time but cover her hands with gloves or socks. She won't be able to get it into her mouth.

Olive oil or Aveeno Baby Eczema cream (it's all natural). My son has Eczema and these worked better than the prescription stuff. The Aveeno cream really seems to keep the flare ups to a minimum.

My son has the same, we have bad skin in our family, but this is due to the fingers in his teething mouth all the time!! I try to pack on the cream at night and sometimes I even put cotton mittens or just cotton socks over the top to stop him from putting them in his mouth, I use sorbalene or zinc/casteroil cream what every is handy at the time, sometimes I forget and sneak in later when he is asleep and lash the cream on! His hands are pretty bad at the moment too! I am about to try a new cream my friend recommended it's called Mustela, they have a few things in their baby range, the Emollient Cream-Stelatopia looks good. it say's it is fragrance free, paraben free, colorant free, tested on Atopic skin, haven't tried it yet, but my friend swears by it!
Hope this helps, good luck!

I don't have this problem with my 2008 baby but do with my 5 year old son!! I found that huggies lotion for babies actually says on the bottle for eczema! It has no added scents etc so it didn't irritate my sons eczema! other than that my doctor prescribed hydrocortizone with acid mantle and that helps ALOT!

Before she goes to bed at night, use a heavy lotion or Vaseline- use an unscented type (no dyes, perfumes, etc.). I put it on my daughter's hands while she is getting sleepy or even after she falls asleep before I lay her down in her crib to make sure she doesn't suck it off.

Hi

I know what you are going through, i went through the samething with d.

if its bad enough she may need some med orally first(only if its bad, my doc really recommended it so we could get a handle on it) you should see a big improvment in 48 hours. He also gave me a cream with steroids in it, but i didn't use that on his hands but i think i only used that maybe 5 times since i got it back in march. i mostly use Aveeno Baby, and until i head it under control i literaly put it on him as soon as it started to dry off. but now that i have a handle on it i only need to put it on him after his bath. and its safe for her hands...just don't put as much on her hands as you would her the rest of her body...i hope this helps some, i have been through this too, took a long time to get him cleared up but once we found something that work it was amazing, he has broken out in almost 5 months now :) oh and use the fragrance free or they have one just for eczema now in aveeno
