Hi! I really just want everyones opinion on to get the vaccine or not for our children... I have been researching somewhat over the past few months and haven't come to a decision. My pediatrician called today and they got the vaccine so now i need to make a decision. My husband seems to be for it, as is our doctor but i am just a bit skeptical. I never got a flu shot in my entire life, and i have never had a bad flu, always very minor. She is a completly healthy 13 month old girl and i don't like the thought of putting her at any risk. It's kind of like your damned if you do damned if you don't. I guess I'm leaning more towards getting it because i couldn't live with myself if she got really sick and i could have prevented it. I don't know, as you can see i'm really struggling with this.

My babies get all thier vaccines EXCEPT the H1N1....there is just too much that can go wrong with it still....it was rushed to production & they really needed to develope it better...so my kids will not get it...I am eligible cause I am a SAHM (primary caregiver) and my son is 2 months but I will not get it either.....I did get my normal flu shot tho & so did my 1 year old daughter!

Hi! We decided not to take the vaccine to our 13 month old boy. I'm not taking anything which isn't tested at all. I read somewhere that vaccine carry too much mercury ( 5-10 time more than is allowed )and the mercury go to the brain and may cause nervous illness later. I got also feeling that the H1N1 isn't so dangerous for the normal healthy people. I will live normally.

vaccines are always a tuff one!! i didnt get our kiddies vaccinated!! and they are both FINE...hardly ever get sick and are very healthy ....my DR is pushing for the same vaccine for my kids but i really think that prevention is better then a cure!! diseases are always going to be around.....nature makes them...nature can fix them!
but im totally with you on that if ur child did get sick n u didnt vaccinate..how terrible you would feel! but then the vaccine doesnet necesarily stop the child gettin it.....and the risks of side effects from the vaccine???? i dont want my kids to be guinea pigs!

We're not doing it. All 4 of my kids DID get sick with H1N1 the first part of October, and while it was a high fever, and headaches for all 4, they really were OK through it. The good thing is that I have a cleaner called Sol-U-Guard that is proven to kill H1N1, so my hubs and I just sprayed that on EVERYTHING in our home, and neither he nor I got it.

I hate that there is so much fear out there about it...kids DO get sick, but they DO get better. If we're being smart mommas, we can help to prevent a lot of illnesses. Best wishes to you as you make your decision!

You just described exactly how I am feeling. My kids are scheduled to get it on Monday and now I am waffling about it. Good luck with your decision.

I decided not to get it for me or my daughter. we dont do regular flu shots either, and limit the other shots we get. . . but it was easier for me to decide because i'm at home most of the time and the times i do go to get groceries, i just take extra precautions, wipe the handle of the cart down, wash before/during/once we're home etc, we take alot of vit C, echinacea ( spelling?) which is good for the immune system. also my husband is a mechanic at a dealership, so not seeing a bunch of people but in their vehicles, also washes his hands a million times during the day. so it wasnt for us. not to mention i wasnt satisfied with the testing, or huge lack of. I think it was rushed threw for this 'pandemic', which honestly i think most of it has died down. in my area, they wont even test most for the swine flu if you go in. . . so how concerned can they really be about it?!?!. If you're around a million people a day, kids in daycare, have underlying conditions ( which is the main reason so many die from the normal flu also ) then i wouldnt not reccomend to you.

it wasnt easy trying to make a decision when i was searching for information, but we never did get and i havnt thought twice about my decision, and no ones been sick around here!!
