How do you dress your baby for bed?

In these warm summer months I'm just curious what your little ones are wearing to bed. I still dress my son in his footy pjs at night but leave off the blanket. During the day he just naps in whatever he's got on. I get so worried that he's getting too hot or too cool though.

In the winter he slept in a sleep gown (don't know what this is called) and a sleep sack. Now in the warmer months he sleeps in a onesie. We don't put a blanket on him cuz I have this fear that he will get the blanket over his head and suffocate. Oh, and we have a fan on his room too, but more just for air circulation. He is a warm baby though, he sweats sometimes - takes after his mommy i guess!!

i dress my boy to season. Back in the summer months when he was younger he just slept in a nappy with the fan as high as it would go and a cotton muslin blanket... it was just TOO HOT for anything more. now it's winter-ish (it never really gets cold here in Townsville, Australia) he wears one of those body suit thingys that have feet attached and the fan down and a thicker warmer blanket. i noticed when it started getting cooler and he was still just going to bed in a nappy that he would wake up at 4am because he was cold. so your buba will tell you if he's uncomfortable.

we are in SE TX so we are already in the 90s he sleeps in a onesie and light knitted blanket. The house stays around 78 degrees. During the winter (HA! the 3 days below 59 degrees here a year) he sleeps in a onesie in a long sleeved fleece sleep sack.

hi,
well living in the UK for a start we dont have much nice weather, ha! and i have just moved also to a new home which i have totally noticed the insulation must of been really poor in our old house! the temp in Jorja's room is always 21Degrees with radiator thermostat turned off so she just has on a short sleeved body suit and baby grow some times a vest style body suit, when its below 20Degrees she has her sleeping bag on which are fantastic there brilliant for pram walking too without taking up too much room under the footmuff!

Our house is normally around 20 (68) and that's warm for us (obviously Canadian) he wears whatever jammies I grab (as we are not in summer yet) some have feet some not and I still put on blankets, he normally kicks/rolls them off but he still has clothes on so no harm done.
Also Lauren- my son would only sleep swaddled until I started putting him to sleep on his tummy now he likes that

I've always gone with 'babies wear one more layer than what you are comfortable in'

So, if I'm wearing jeans and tshirt, she's usually wearing a long sleeve and pants and socks.

But to bed ALWAYS either a long sleeve onsie and PJ pants or a footie sleeper. Sometimes the fleecy warm ones (on cooler nights) and sometimes the cotton ones (warmer nights) and a light blanket.

I'm in Phoenix metro area and I still dress my little one in footsie pj's. Our home is kept around 75 degrees and I always put a blanket but he kicks it off almost immediately. If I don't use the pj's his skin is cold when I check on him.

It does depend on the weather, i try to dress my littl girl in pjs, shorts and shirt if its warm, but she manages to kick the covers off and get cold, so i find jump suits are the best, if she kicks the covers off she wont get too cold.

For the past month DD has been sleeping in nothing but her diaper and a blanket at bedtime. She really doesn't like wearing clothes or pjs. But she does where them occasionally.

he still gets swaddled..i've tried to let him sleep without it and he won't do it..but since he's wrapped in a blanket while he sleeps and its hot out now he has just a onesie on underneath..when its cold i'll put jammies on him too

My mom and my doctor both pointed out to me something that I never would have thought of - if you are warm, your baby is a lil bit warmer. It's just natural how their bodies work. I just go with what makes sense at bedtime. Our house goes all over the place with temperature. My bf loves being colder, I like being comfortablely warm. So sometimes he gets too hot and turns off 1 heater and it affects the whole balance... anyways... I go with whatever feels right at bedtime - some nights he sleeps in just a diaper and his blanket - other nights he has his warm footy sleepers on. Don't get me wrong the place doesn't do a drastic change from hot to cold but everyday its a different temperature in here and we just go with the flow.

On a side note - Gabriel has a bamboo blanket, which may sound odd, that he got from a friend of my moms when he was born... it's bamboo material that almost feels like a velvet that he sleeps with. It's the only blanket he sleeps with, and basically what it does is keep the body heat in. So if he goes to sleep warm, he will stay warm throughout the night with that blanket. I would definitely recommend getting one or buying the material and making one yourself.

Depending on how hot it is that day sometimes i put her in her regular footy pjs, but when its really hot i just put her to bed with just a onesie. My little girl stays pretty warm. When i put her in just a onesie i usually also put a blanket on top of her. She doesn't wake up cold so i figure thats just fine.

He'll let you know if he gets too hot or too cold! :)

We have the air conditioning on at night set at about 72. We put her cotton pajamas and a light sleeping blanket. She seems comfortable with that.

Rule of them...what you wear they wear. If you're in jammie pant then they are too. Also depends on if they're warm sleepers also. They also make thin footie jammies.
