How much does your baby sleep?

My son goes to sleep at about 6pm and wakes up between 7:00 and 7:15 am. Then will stay up until about 9 and take another nap until noon. Also, will take another hour or two hour nap at about 2pm.. He loves his sleep, I think it's just because he is growing but I am not so sure!

My daughter just turned 1 yesterday. She sleeps 12 at night and 2-2hr naps a day. My daughter that is now 4 did the same. My oldest started that at 2 months and my youngest 3 months. I love it!!!!!

My daughter started sleeping through the night (7:30pm - 6am) around 10 months, and then just recently started waking up once through the night. I too am not sure if it is related to breastfeeding. My daughter wakes up at the littlest things - if her temperature in her room drops a bit, if the cat gets in the room and starts to purr...miniscule things.



She generally takes 1-2 naps a day but really it is going to depend on the child. Whoever recommended books about sleeping that is an excellent idea - it never hurts to have more resources to look at!

My son will wake at 6.30am. He will go down for a nap at 9.00-9.15 and sleep anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. After lunch, he'll go down again around 1.00 and sleep usually 1.5 hours. So daytime naps add up to about 2.5-3 hours generally. He goes to bed at 7.00pm. Until he was about 11 months, he might wake between 1-3 times in the night and need a pat and settle for a few minutes. From about 11 months, he began to 'sleep through' so most nights, if he does wake he will 'self settle' himself. It's just as well as I was just about to go bananas getting up to him 2-3 times in the night!

Hey Cassie, all my friends that have boys seem to have troubles getting them to sleep and they seem to need a lot of attention. All my friends who have girls have no troubles at all...kinda bizarre. My daughter goes to bed at 7:30 pm and gets up 8:00 am and has two 2 hour naps during the day. When my daughter is cranky, it means she is tired or hungry and thats all! Pretty simple little child....lol

This reply is for Cassie Manci - I know as moms we carry around so much pressure to be the best mom, and also a bit too much guilt for things that may not seem perfect in our child's life, and so I really don't want to add to ANY pressure you might be feeling, but I would really recommend the book by the Sleep Lady, Kim West for you. Eleven pm is really late for a baby to go to sleep. This book taught me so much about babies and their sleep and really helped me understand what I was seeing in my son. It sounds like your son has improved a lot and that's awesome! Keep up the good work.

wow. my son sleeps about 8 hours at night. sometimes i get lucky and he sleeps about 9 hours. then of the mornings i can usually lay him down for an hour to a 2 hour nap. then around 5pm he takes an hour nap. he usually goes to bed around 11pm. he is doing alot better than he use to and i am really proud of him.

my daughter sleeps a total of 16 hours a day, she has been doing that since she was 4 months old, nothing has changed yet...fingers crossed

My daughter sleeps through the night for 10-12 hours and has two 1 hour naps and one 2-3 hour naps during the day.

My son will be one next week and he only sleeps about 9 - 91/2 hours a night - HE GETS UP AT 5 AM!! He takes two naps usually, each about 1 hour and 15 minutes long. He should be getting a total of 14 hours each day but he's only averaging 11 1/2. I would give anything for him to sleep just until 6 a.m. We don't get him out of the crib until 6 a/m, no matter when he wakes in the morning. He just lays in there happily playing and singing until we get him. I'm worried that he's not getting enough sleep.

my daughter sleeps approximately 12 hrs a night then has 2 naps thru the day which range from 1 hr to 2 hrs:)

my son is on formula and he gets up a couple times a night to I dont think it has anything to do with breastfeeding I think all babies are different. some will sleep through the night and others wont dont worry you are not the only one. I know how you feel I am tired all the time too and I am going back to work in a couple of weeks. my son has 2 naps a day and it ranges between 1hr to 2.5 hrs depending on the day.

Mine usually sleeps from 8, 9 or 10 till 7 or 8 in the morning. Then he is up for most of the day and maybe takes one good hour nap and at least 2 cat naps. But he still gets up every 2 - 3 hours for a bottle at night. It doesn't matter if you stuff him full before bed, he still gets up! He is a binky free baby, never liked pacifiers, and I think thats part of his issue!

Both of mine sleep from 7:30-5:30/6:30 (depending on the day, if I'm super lucky, it's 7, but that's rare) through the night, so that's 10-11 hours. Then they take a morning nap that last from an hour to two hours, and an afternoon nap that last from an hour to two hours. On the best days (days they are the least cranky) they sleep 14-16 hours, on the worst 12.

my 11 months baby sleep 3 hours between 11a.m-2pm and then at night he sleep from 8:30pm- 1am then he wakes up a little juz to drink his milk and then go back again to sleep untill he get up on 7:30am to 8am.

My son sleeps about 11 hours at night, but naps are hit and miss. Some days he will take a morning and afternoon nap, each of 2 hours or more and other days (like today) he lays in bed, talking and singing to himself for 2 hours and get little or no nap at all. I don't know why, but I do have to say when he doesn't nap he isn't cranky like you would think he would be.

My little guy sleeps 10-12 hrs a night and usually 2 - 2hr naps during the day. Up until about a week ago he was taking an additional 45 min nap in the evening but he gave that one up!

My daughter, born the 10th Oct. Sleeps from 7pm - 6 - 6:30am every night, during the day can be a different story. Sometimes, 2 sleeps for about an hour each, some days (when in day care), she sleeps 25 mins in total. She is so happy though that lack of sleep doesn't seem to bother her.

I refer to a book, 'save our sleep' for my 2 children. My daughter sleeps 7pm-7am (12hrs) & has 2 day time naps approx 1 hr each.

My 9 1/2 month old sleeps for almost 11-11 1/2 hrs and then when she is here with me on the weekends she will take one 3 hr nap 11:30-2:30 pm....when she is at daycare she only sleeps about 1 hr

My daughter does 10.5-11 hours at night and 2 naps during the day totaling 2.5-3 hours. Sounds like we're all doing good :-) Curious to see what your schedules look like.

My little girl is 10 months old and sleeps about 10 hours at night and takes two naps during the day totally 2.5-3 hours. This can vary though depending on how much intestine gas she has which often delays her bedtime or wakes her in the night several times. I hear by 12 months this problem should disappear though - fingers crossed!

my son is 10 months old and he slept right through the night from 6 weeks old until about a month ago now he wakes up 3 or 4 times durin the night most of time he dont have naps during the day either what can i do to get him back into a routine

My daughter sleeps 11 hours at night and 2 naps during the day. 2 hrs. in the morning and 1 hr. in afternoon. I have heard most babies at this age average 14 total hours of sleep a day. Sounds pretty close from all of the other posts. She didnt always nap as good till a couple months ago though, but she has always been good at night.

Holly's 10.5 m.o. and sleeps about 11 => 11.5 hrs at night, and then by day, she'll sleep between 2 => 3 hrs in the morning, and then will have another nap in the afternoon for about 1.5 hrs.

Omgoshh..just reading that back made me realise how much she sleeps..lil' lazy bones..ahaha.

My daughter sleeps about 9 to 10 hours a night and will take a good 2 to 2.5 hour nap in the morning and a 1.5 to 2 hour nap in the afternoon.

My daughter sleeps abouut 11 hours at night then takes 2 naps during the day. Lately her morning nap has been about 2 hours and her afternoon nap is about an hour or an hour and a half. Your son seems like he's sleeping schedula is fine. Same as my daughters.
