Is anyone else "anti" flu shot?

My husband and I don't get the flu shot and don't plan to give it to our 10 month old daughter. It seems when we tell people this they get a look on their face like we are bad parents. Anyone else feel this way?

I am staunchly against getting the flu shot. Especially since the flu is misdiagnosed- it is a respiratory virus but what most people actually get during "flu" season is in fact just a bad cold. My pediatrician respects my decision not to get it fo myself and my baby- she admitted that most folks don't get the full blown flu.

YESSSS i have never gotten a flu shot in my life. My parents always thought they were bad for us (which is not the reason i refuse tthem) I don't believe I am going to get my children the shot either. I am still debating on the H1N1 shot, my mother in law is a nurse and says that it really is not as bad as everyone says.

We will all be getting our flu shots this year. Both my husband and I and all the grandparents got it last year. It's a personal choice, not a good parent /bad parent thing.

I am not getting the flu shot for my daughter. I live in Denmark and it's not even on the recommended vaccine schedule.

Do what you feel is right. I am going to get it mainly because of H1N1 virus.

I don't think you're a bad parent, it's purely your choice. I do plan, however, on getting my daughter a flu shot this year. I've gotten once ever since I was a teenager and almost died of the flu, that experience really scared me so I get a shot every single year with no exceptions.

I have never had a flu shot and I'm not plannning on ever giving any to my chilren either. I find it is not neccessary, especially concidering that my children don't go into daycare.

My twins will definitely get their flu shots after they turn 1. they are both in daycare and we have already been devistated by germs since they started. I will also get my flu shot for the first time ever. My husband and I cannot afford to take any more days off from work. It is so hard for me to see my babies sick. Hopefully the flu shot will prevent the most rampant strains.

It is a personal choice and you are not bad parents for making the best decision for your family.

Hope everyone stays flu free this season. Good luck!!

i felt like that with my oldest but he's in kindy this year they've already had a flu outbreak so both kids will be getting the flu shot but not the swine flu shot and theres no research on that one at this point..if my kids were somewhere germ infested like daycare they'd get it as soon as they were old enough

I've been going back and fourth about this. I have never gotten a flu shot and i don't think i am going to have my daughter get one. I don't want her to get really sick though either since she does go to daycare. Its good for her to get sick though its good for her immune system. I really keep going back and fourth on this and haven't really made up my mind. I don't think that not getting you daughter a flu shot makes you a bad parent.
