Is it okay to let my baby drink some gatorade sometimes? He is only 11 months old.

My pediatrician recommended gatorade and water 50/50 when the kids are dehydrated from sick or overwhelming heat. He says it's basically the same as pedialyte, but comes in more flavors so the kids are more likely to find one they'll take to.
I wouldn't really use it as a regular drink that way, though. I stick with formula, soy milk (one of my kids is allergic to milk and keeping twins from sharing is impossible), heavily diluted juices or just plain water. If it was the only drink they would drink other than formula, I would simply dilute it further, maybe 25% gatorade, 75% water. If plain gatorade is what your baby is used to, you might need to slowly dilute for a few days or weeks until you get to that dilution, though.

Sugary drinks, like Gatorade are not recommended for infants. They generally cause diarrhea. Occasional watered down drinks like this should not be harmfull, but 100% juice drinks water down, or Gerber or baby brand juices are the best.

I would honestly ask your pediatrician...I don't know that it would harm them especially if you are having the half Gatorade half water thing going on. I know that Gatorade is known to cause cavities so make sure you brush your babies teeth after drinking it. Hope this helps

Why? If your baby is dehydrated often, you need to discuss that with your Pedi and find a solution. If it's for a treat, other drinks are better for your baby including juice (which is not good either). Water and breast milk/formula are the liquids your baby needs at this age. If they won't drink water, diluted juice is what is recommended. Gatorade has way too much salt for your little ones kidneys.

I think its fine, when my son and I go outside for a long time I mix some gatorade with water, Also when he is sick I give him LOTS of it (mixed with water) to keep him hydrated. pedialite is good for that too but he hates it and will have nothing to do with it
