My daughter has been having fewer messy diapers since she started solids. Sometimes only 1 a day and they are really gooey! Well, she didn't have one yesterday or today... should I be worried??

it was the opposite for us when he was on just breast milk he would only go once every 4-7 days completely normal for a breastfed baby as there is almost no waste to eliminate. Once we started on solids he goes once a day and on days I give him formula he goes twice.

When we started solids my son only had a bm every 3-4 days. My ped. said to feed him foods that started with 'p' such as pears, prunes, peas, and peaches. These foods have more fiber and should help things along. A little water or diluted juice might help too. Just be patient, it will work itself out soon, my little guy is back to having a messy one 2 times a day like clockwork now!

My son is breastfed and used to have about 2 messy diapers per day before solids. Now he only has one every 4 days or so! He went 5 days a few weeks ago and I took him to the doctor. He said that sometimes bf babies sometimes can go through a phase where they only poop once a week - it had happened with his own daughter. As long as the stools are soft and he doesn't seem like he's straining he is OK. It really had me worried at first, but he said they get back to a more normal schedule usually within a month.

Crystal is right. But I remember when my son started solids and his poopy diapers were very few. after 2-3 months of him being on mostly sloids he's gotten back to regular. So just keep an eye on it. and as crystal said if it goes past 5 days call the doctor. Also double check with your doctor and what he/she says. They might have another oppinion and/or things you might want to try if you get too worried.
