check it out with your doc, but my son had this just a few weeks ago. He was diagnosed with croup. It sounds awful, and we even called EMS because we thought he couldn't breathe. Interestingly enough, the doc said it is almost always a night time thing. You should check it out!!

my 1 yr old also had a night time cough, but it was due to congestion from a cold. my naturopathic doctor recommended a chest rub of castor oil and ginger (grate 1 tsp of ginger into 1/4 c of castor oil). good luck!

Outside of seeking medical attention for the cough, a humidifier in your child's room should alleviate the dry cough. I suffer with the dry cough myself due to asthma.

I hope your son is okay, but try the vaporizer it could be that the room is just too dry and you need moisture in the air. It could also mean that he's gettting a cold, that happen to my son last week, dry cough in the middle of the night, had to wake him up to stop him from coughing, gave him some water and then the following day went to the doctors and was put on antibiotics

My daughter has been coughing a lot right before bed and when she wakes up. My doctor suggested we use a cool mist humidifier, elevate her mattress a little, take her into the bathroom while we are showering so she can breath in the steam. They also said to give her room temperature liquids because cold liquids can cause irritation and initiate coughing. I would definitely talk to your doctor about your concerns.

I agree with all the other mom's seek medical treatment to make sure there is not something serious going on first, but this is what I do for my one year old that has lots of allergy issues. Get a heat vaporizer and put about 10 drops of eucalyptus oil in it

you could try silin drops for the nose, but you should probly take him to the doctor or at least call and tell them about his issue

Have you spoken to the doctor about his cough? Sometimes it is something as simple as post-nasal drip (stuffiness that drips back into his throat while he sleeps causing him to cough) or it could be more serious. If it has been going on consistently for any length of time, it would probably be of benefit to check it out with his doctor as it could be an allergy. Good luck!
