So? My own daughter gets me up about that often. Usally to pee, and then I nurse her to sleep again.

Everyone wakes during the night. For an adult, that's about every 90 minutes. It can be much sooner than that for an infant. The difference is that you put yourself back to sleep without bothering anyone, but your son is not developmentally ready to do that yet without your help.

In the grand scheme of things, I'm sure that we wont' regret tending to our children in the wee hours of the night when they're grown and have left us.

Just wondering what you mean about waking up to pee, I thought your daughter was an infant/baby?

Thanks. Another thing that might help too is to put a little rice cereal in her bottle that you give her before bed. If its mixed breastmilk and formula you have to add the rice cereal right before you are going to give it to her. Also, make sure that you shake it really well and you might have to make the nipple in her bottle a tiny bit bigger so that the rice cereal can come out. It makes her more full so she wont be waking up all night hungry. I work as a preschool teacher and when I was working towards my degree and took child psychology they also explained to us that the part of your brain that tells you are hungry or have to go to the bathroom shuts down during REM(rapid eye movement) sleep which is the deep sleep. Because of that, when they are deeply in sleep, they dont get hungry or wet their diapers. Even my son sometimes wakes up dry after sleeping 12 hours. Just something to think about.

Sorry I meant that you might have to make the hole in her bottle nipple bigger.

We are getting to the point where I'm not making enough to get her through the night just breastfeeding, so I'm hoping the combo of formula before bed and more time in her crib will help her get over the hump. Good luck to you and your hubby while he's away.

I used to have this problem too. We started out co-sleeping and then when my son fell off of the bed, he went into a crib right next to us. Then we bought a house and he got his own room. I now it it controversial but we just let him cry it out the first few days. I would feed him a bottle, change his diaper and then put him in the crib with his pacifier. The first few nights he cried about 20-35 minutes. Now after about a month of it, he babbles about 15 minutes and then crashes. He also finally sleeps through the night and thank god because right now my husband is deployed in Iraq.

My little girl goes down in her crib about 7:30, is up to nurse around 10:30, and lately has been getting up wide awake and ready to play from 2:30 to 3:30, before knocking out in bed with us until 7 or so. I've been told it's because we breastfeed and it digests more easily and more quickly than formula, so she's hungry more frequently.
