my 4 month old has just started the rice cereal. she is doing 1 TBL twice a day. the dr. told us to start her on it because she never seems to be satisfied with just a bottle. it's still not working. she is still hungry like an hour later! help!

If it helps... I'm currently doing the following with my four month old: five breastfeeds a day and two solids feeds. He has his breastfeeds at 7am, 11am, 3pm, 6.30pm and 10.30pm and has his solids at 12 noon and around 5.15pm. Apple puree at 12 noon (which he loves) and rice cereal at 5.15pm (which he's not really that keen on). So far, seems to be working ok. A great book is Save Our Sleep by Tizzie Hall which is where this routine comes from. I think her website is www.saveoursleep.com.au.

My daughter (born Oct 3, but six weeks early) still has the push food out of mouth reflex. So, I have no luck getting her to eat off a spoon yet. I just increased the formula amount until she was satisfied. Also, she gets bored easily and that can be mistaken for hunger sometimes.

Is she eating all of her cereal? My little girl didn't like rice cereal at all. She spit most of it out. We tried oatmeal and she LOVED it. She even waves her hands, opens her mouth and screams for more. Also, she might be going through a growth spurt.

hey there Krissy, ive also just recently started my son on rice cereal and i experienced exactly the same thing. So now i give him 2 tsps of cereal at a time, then he usually has a nap and around about an hour later he wakes, then i give him a bottle and he lasts for the next 4 hours. so maybe you can try increasing the amount of Cereal or perhaps also start introducing Purity in the evenings for the 7 o clock feed. Helpful book i also read is Baby sence, it gives alot of tips and tricks on the feeding issue. They also say that the cereal or Purity feeds should never replace the bottle feeds at this stage, it is purely a added extra. Let me know if you have any luck and hopefully this could help you.
