Routine and Schedules for our 4 month old babies

We are basically still on a 3 hour schedule - but when he's at daycare he seems to take longer naps so it may stretch a bit. I tend to wake him up around 7 to get ready for daycare. I feed him 6oz and drop him off. He tends to take a nap from about 9-11. We've always used the babywise method (eat, wake, sleep). Then he eats about 1-2TB of rice cereal around 11 plus 6-8oz formula and takes another nap a couple hours later. 6oz formula around 2. Nap from 4-5. 1-2TB rice cereal at 5 and 6oz formula. May take a nap from 7-8. Bath around 7:30 and night time bottle of 6oz at 7:30/8. In bed around 8 for the night and sleeps through till I wake him up between 7 and 8.

My little guy is on a four hour schedule (flexible). He wakes up at 8 (eats then plays), asleep around 9:30-10:00ish, awake at 12 (eats then plays), asleep around 1:30-2:00ish, etc. We generally put him to sleep for good around 9ish.

Babywise has done wonders for me as well! Our usual day: 6am nurse and back to sleep until 8am, play, nap 10-11, 11am nurse, play, 12:30-2pm nap, 2pm nurse, play, 4-5pm nap, 5pm nurse, play, usually just a 20-30 minute nap some time during this time, 7:30 bath, 8pm nurse, swaddle and into bed awake and usually sleeps until 6 am. Today she slept 12 hours so it was 8am our first feed. The babywise helps you and her figure out the schedule that works for you both. Good luck!

My little girl goes to daycare during the day, and they have structured nap times. When she's at home with me she gets up around 7am, eats, plays, then about 2 hours after she wakes up takes a nap for about 45 minutes. This pattern happens about the same throughout the day. At 6pm we give her a bath, bottle, read a book and then put her to bed. She usually falls asleep right away. Most of the time she wakes up around 1 or 2 to eat, then goes right back to sleep until 7am. We started a schedule very early, a bedtime ritual really. I think that has helped a lot, although we did have to do some sleep training to get her to fall asleep in the evenings on her own. I read "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" and found it very helpful! Good luck!

Schedules/routines have worked wonderfully for both my kids. I wake up my son at 6am to feed him, then back to bed till about 8am. Then its every 4 hours during the day for 5 bottles total. 6am, 10am, 2pm, 6pm, and 10pm. He gets a bath about 9:30 before his last bottle, then off to bed until I wake him for morning bottle. I'll probably wait another month to start introducing solids, we'll see...........

My son, James, is 4.5 months old, and he's been on the same schedule for about 1-1.5 months now. We have a bedtime routine. He'll have a bath if it's bath night around 7-7:15. He then gets his last bottle around 7:30pm and by 8 we're changing his diaper, reading a book or 2 and he's in bed by 8:15. He sleeps through the night, and wakes up around 7am and I get him around 7:15. He has a bottle at 7:30am.

During the day his schedule is as follows: He's ready for his 1st nap around 9am. That nap is usually 30-45 mins long. He has another bottle around 10:30. We play until he's ready for his next nap at 12:30. That nap is about 30 mins long. The next bottle is somewhere between 1:30 & 2:30, depending on how hungry he is. His long nap of the day is at 3:30.  He'll wake up at 5:30-6, have another bottle and we play until he's ready to go down for the night.

I have noticed that his nap lengths vary depending on the day or if he's having a growth spurt. When he was first born I was so stressed over his schedule and whether he was sleeping enough. I've settled down from that. He's eating and therefore gaining weight and growing like a weed. He's also sleeping through the night, and napping during the day. So I'd say he's doing perfect. If you're baby is doing the same, then you're doing perfectly.

we were on a schedule, but that has seemed to change in the last week or two. now it is like wake up around 5-7AM (either bring him to sleep with me if early or wake up and change and feed if later), play around for awhile, take a 30-1 hour nap around 9-10AM, then eat some more, then play, maybe not an hour two more in early afternoon, play some more, then cat naps on and off throughout the rest of the day, then bed time between 6:30-7:30PM. Sleeps until about 5-7AM, although lately has been waking up around 11PM-1AM and wanting to eat more.

On the days that go to plan: wake 0530 feed then play, back to sleep 0700-0715, wake 0930 feed then play, back to sleep 1130, wake 1330 feed then play, back to sleep 1530, wake 1730 feed & Daddy cuddles, in bed 1830-1900 for the night. She then sleeps through the night till 0530.
