Stupid Question... How do i make homemade gerbers?

My daughter is turning 5 months old this week.

I would love to save a bit money (these days) and make homemade gerbers. I want to start with vegetables. How do i make them? what vegis should i start with?

steam pureee freeze in a ice cube tray when frozen move to a ziploc.... easy cheap and they get the real taste of fruits and veggies instead of the stuff in store bought baby food

You steam them, drain them and then puree the heck out of them in a food processor or blender (you may have to add some water to get the right consistency). Make sure there are no lumps or chunks and that everything is completely pureed. Not a stupid question at all! Just don't waste your money on a baby food cook book! It'll just tell you what I just did and then you'll think "What a waste of money!" :)

There are lots of helpful books out there too, try looking up what is in your local library to check out a few before you decide which to buy.  I like Super Baby Food.

Hi Liz! I have a 5 1/2 month old and we are almost through the first veggies so far. Take a look at this website: wholesomebabyfood.com. It gives you are kinds of info and also recipes. I just started to make his own food (veggies) and it is very easy and definitely cheaper!
