My son was born on the 11th of October and recently, he's gotten very drooly, which he wasn't before. He always chews on his fists, and he's quite fussy sometimes. Could he be teething already??

same here...her little hands are a slobbery mess most of the time! she'll suck on anything thats near her face actually like toys or our sleeves/shoulders. i had her sitting upright on my lap at dinner and she leaned right forward and started sucking on the tablecloth!

That is possible... Are his cheeks redder than normal and are his gums white?? my daughter was born the same day and my doctor told me signs of teething could start around 2 months but might not get a tooth until around the 7th month. But then there is the early teethers. Good Luck

My son was born Halloween and he is very drooly too! I read in the What to Expect the First Year that its normal to get the drool bucket out at about 10 weeks to 3 months!!! And that yes it can mean teething has started!!

My twins were born on Oct 13th and just started drooling also. The doctor said that their salivary glands just kicked in.

Hi Diana. My baby was born 15 October and has also started to dibble a fair bit and I was wondering the same thing. It seems very young, however I have heard that some babies are BORN with teeth. Ouch! Hope someone here knows the answer.

My son was born October 9th and the same thing! He was really fussy and drooling a lot. I called my lactation nurse and she told me to check and I felt the little nobes. I was also told that they probably won't come through for a long time. Until then it's going to be a long haul...grr. I got Orajel and that seems to help. I also got some Infant Drops for when it's really bad. I am only breastfeeding and he likes to suck because it makes his gums feel better. I've tried the chilled teething rings and he will have nothing to do with it. If they are developing to quickly what are you going to do? It's not like you can stop it. I'm learning to just be patient...like I said learning.

Andrea, what is a soother?

My son is doing the same thing and was born October 1st. He also grabs his ears when you lay him down and wakes up screaming for no apparent reason. The drool is at a fever pitch, and mostly what soothes him is chewing on my finger. Our dentist said these are usual signs of teething. A little tempra helps...1/4 to 1/2 a ml.

My son Harrison was born on the 11th October too and for the last few days has been exactly the same. I thought at first he may be teething but I think he may just be going through a growth spurt. I'm bottle feeding at the moment so when he gets fussy and starts chewing on his fists, I just give him an extra oz or two. He soon settles then falls asleep.

Coming from a family of dentists (and my pediatrician confirmed this)--babies do start "pre-teething" around 3 months. They get much more drooly. Although the teeth don't come till around 6 months, the mouth starts to get ready after 3 months. My daughter is 2 months and really into chewing her fists this week.

My son was born on 8th oct and he started drooling at about 8 weeks. His doctor said that it was normal for some kids to start drooling this early, this is kind of a pre process to teething, and some kids have their 1st tooth at about 4 months also. My son has also started to put his fist in his mouth. I guess that goes along with the drool thing.

My daughter was born on the 11th of October as well. I also noticed that within the last couple of weeks she chews on her fists all the time and was becoming fussy. She was also drooling a lot. She had an appointment with her doctor and I asked if she was teething already. He said she was kind of young but it was possible.

My son was born Oct. 15 and has also been doing the same thing. I have a six month old neice who also stared drooling and becoming fussy around this age. My sister asked her pediatrician and he told her that infants can start to "teeth" long before teeth actually erupt through the gums, and this is the very beginning of teething. She still doesn't have any teeth yet, although I have a friend whose baby got his first tooth at 3 months.

My son has been doing the same thing and he was born on Oct. 27th. I wonder if it is teething or if he's just discovered his fists!

My daughter was born on Oct 14th and she too has been sharing all the same symptoms as well as red cheeks. Although, from what i hear this is rather early to start teething. So who has the answer? are they teething?
