How much milk sholud my 5 month baby boy be having been weaning about 4 weeks please help?

Thank you liam has cereal for breakfast and loves it with 6oz bottle, and veg and friut for diner and tea with 6 oz bottle then then 8 oz bottle for bed. Sometimes one extra 6oz bottle during day so total of approx 26oz a day do u think that enough he is nearly 5 months old?

Hi Sarah,



My son James is 5.5 months and he eats about 5-6 times a day, some days are "growth days" and he wants a little more. He has 4-5 8oz bottles and 1 meal mid morning (cereal with fruit or veggies, maybe some mashed banana).



I used to stress over how much to give him in his bottles, but really he tells me how much he needs. Start with 6 oz and see how that goes. If he's still giving hunger cues after burping and waiting 5-10 mins give him a little more.



Have you started rice cereal yet? James loves it. We've already gone through rice, brown rice and oatmeal, and he's taking to all of them. His first "food" was a ripe banana mashed up and he loved it. I'm slowly working my way through the Gerber stage 1 foods. So far, so good.
