The usual benchmark for weight gain is to double birth weight by 6 months. If your baby girl is more than double her birth weight, then she is fine. She might be fine if she's not so heavy...some babies put more energy into gaining length than weight. As long as she's thriving in all other areas of development, don't worry too much about it. She looks lovely in the photo!

My son turned 7 months old on May 2 and he was just weighed today at 19lbs 80z 26 1/2 inches long. He is a big boy but a healthy one with no concerns. Some babies are just smaller and vice versa. He was 6lbs 5oz 19 inches at birth and well he just likes and retains his food well lol

haha wow our babies were around the same size at birth and are completely different now..i guess some grow faster than others

Oh I know! It's crazy the differences. He was just so teeny tiny at birth, hard to imagine and I swear I don't even remember. My husband was a VERY chubby baby, weighing 22lbs at just 3 months, can you believe that?! He was only BF and was very healthy and he could never really sit, just rolled around everywhere I guess. But once he got moving he became slim and was very skinny growing up. There are some babies born a lot bigger and weigh less then my son does now, too funny.

My son weighed 17lbs 1 oz at his 6 month check up. He weighed 6.8 at birth. I can't believe how big he has gotten since then. I agree all babies grow at their own rate.

I just think babies vary and that's all, I don't think it has anything to do with the size of family members. Mine and my husbands family are pretty much on the taller size and slim and my son is almost 20lbs and 26 1/2 inches long, he is 7 months old and was 6lbs 5oz at birth. I just think all babies are their own size!

i agree with you. i was 6 lbs 8 oz and my son was 6 lbs 7 oz but my boyfriend was 8 lbs 8 oz.. my son eats a lot..and he's even smaller now that i was at his age.

My son's check ups were thrown off by his ped's vacations. So when I took him for his 6 month check up he was 6 and a half months old (we just went!) and he tipped the scales at 19lbs 13oz! And he's 26 inches long. He was 7lbs 6oz. Needless to say....we call him Tank. Babies vary though. It all depends on the size of the family members.

My baby girl was 17 lb 4 oz today - she will be 7 months tomorrow. She was 8 lb 3 oz at birth and has been following the 50th percentile consistently. Funny when I compare her to my other daughter (who is now 3) and was around that weight at 10 months! But she was only 6 lb 4 oz at birth and has always been small for her age. My baby is wearing clothes she was wearing when she was over a year old!!

My baby is 9kg and 72cm, but that is normal because the both families are big. Men are 2m and women are between 1,70cm to 1,85cm

my son is now 13 lbs 6 oz which i think is about 6.1 kg according to my kg calculator i did online(i was curious to see what other babies weigh) my baby isnt that far behind your baby and he wont be 7 months til the 24th. last week he was 12 lbs 4 oz and the doctor was concerned but since he gained a pound in the past week he's a lot better. so i wouldnt worry about it at all. i read somewhere that they should double the birthweight by 6 months and it looks like she must've done that since my baby did and he was tiny.

The usual benchmark is if your baby has doubled her birth weight in 6 months. If she if over that, she is probably just fine. Most babies are fine, as long as they are thriving in all spheres of development. Don't worry if she's not chubby...not all babies are.
