Hello, I have been giving my daughter toddler & baby yogurt all along without thinking too much about it. I am wondering when regular yogurt that the rest of the family eats, when can she start to have this?? She has tried it when hers has run out with no issues, but only a couple times.
Thanks Heaps.

She can have it whenever. The reason for the emphasis on toddler and infant yogurt is because they have a higher fat content, which is something that growing little bodies need! Just make sure she is getting whole milk in other parts of her diet!

my daughter's been having regular yogurt since she started on solids at 6 months. She loves plain Greek yogurt, and I often mix it up with some pureed fruit for her.

never bought baby foods. we do baby led weaning so Phoebe has never had baby foods only small manageable bits of real food. Like others have said, the "baby" label is a marketing scheme. some of the baby things have more sugar and additives than the grown up models. how backwards is that? The trix yogurts, go-gurts, dannoninos are examples.

Any dairy is fine for babies AT OR AFTER 12 months old. Before then is a no-no because its bad for their little tummys. I have been giving Lily a bit of yougurt for afternoon tea every day, but she only eats it in small doses.

My daughter has been having regular yoghurt since after she turned 1. She loves it. I just make sure not to buy 0% fat or fat free yoghurt.

Well I've started mixing it up & giving her whatever yogurt suits on the day now. I've been giving her baby yogurt since 6 months. Can't remember when I introduced the Toddler yogurt but well before 12 months. I just never spent any time thinking about it & kept ordering it in my groceries. The thought occurred to me the other day because I'm sure I'm paying a lot more for her yogurt while I am also buying tubs of yogurt for my Husband. That they could be sharing. But at the same time would happily spend more if it was too soon. Seems it's not, so bonus!

Katrice hi well i give my kids a mix the baby yogurt bcs. of my 20 month old but my 3.5 year old eats it too, baby yogurts just have some added vitamins and nutrition additives to it, but the regular yogurt is equally good for them, getting them into the habit of eating yogurt is always a good thing, any yogurt. I am sure your DR. will say the same, unless allergic or lactose intolerant.

Funny you should ask. I just started last week.
I was giving her toddler yogurt from a year onward - the "Little Ones" kind because there was so much less sugar, and it was made with whole milk (Danone & the other kids ones are just skim milk and sugar as the first ingredients... I'm thinking "this is the same as adult yogurts! why would I feed this to my one year old??")
Anyways, just last week I thought, hmm, she's closer to 2 now, I think reg yogurt is fine. and so we bought one with sugar FAR down on the list, its Sillhouette 0+, its sweetened with Sucralose, which is NOT an artifical sweetner, its derived from sugar.
try it :)

I've been giving my daughter yogurt, since before she turned a year old...she LOVES it! I try to stick to the yogurt without artificial colors, and artificial sweeteners.

Yoghurt is really good for babies, especially live yoghurt. I would say go ahead but try to get the ones with less sugar if your baby will eat them.

yogurt is totally fine, I think the baby ones are really just a marketing tool, not any actual nutritional concern. Try giving your little one plain, full-fat yogurt, as dairy fat is important at this stage and it's always good to avoid sugar. If you do want to give her sweetened yogurt, be sure it has no artificial sweeteners, and try mixing it with some plain yogurt to cut down the sugar content.

I started giving my daughter yoghurt sometime after her 1st b'day. I was a bit paranoid about it, but no ill effects:-)

Mine has had it for about 9 months now, LOL! I just try to get the higher fat (and like the PP said no artificial sweeteners) - although she has had the fat-free on the rare occasion. My new favourite is the Mediterraneo which is a whopping 6% MF, but soooooooooo yummy!

My son has always used the baby yogurt and regular yogurt. I never thought much about it. I know gerber came out with a yogurt and i received alot of coupons in the mail for it so with it being only 50cents for 4 i started getting that but before that and even now i will get him trix yogurt etc.. He loves feeding himself it for breakfast and even lunch sometimes! :0)

I don't really see the difference between baby yogurt and regular yogurt... my son has always had "regular" yogurt... I just make sure it's made with real sugar and not artificial sweeteners...
