my daughter started walking on her own at 9months,but every baby has their own time when they are ready. you should take her walking every day for about 15 mins to help strengthen her legs

All baby's are different! My daughter will be 14 months on the 14th and she just started walking last Friday. She has been taking steps here and there and cruising the furniture and walls since November - but Friday she went on her own and now - won't stop!! Momma needs trainers now to keep up!! xox

Don't worry. Some kids don't start walking for several more months yet. Unless your doctor thinks something is wrong, don't worry. Just wait and you can help her by encouraging her to move her legs while you hold her hands and to stand up while holding onto things.

as long as she can "furniture walk" as my doctor calls it, then she is developing normally. My son is doing the same thing right now, and cannot stand on his own yet either, although he tries really hard. He is 13 months old. Sounds like it'll happen soon enough.

My Daughter cruised from 8 months to 13 months! She started walking a few days shy after turing 13 months. She just wasn't ready until now. No worries. You're little one will pick up soon! Just keep encouraging your little one to walk..hold by the hand and guide right along with you while you walk, give your toddler a push toy to walk around with...hang in there.

Donna, My little man is 13 months old and he also crawls like lighting he has been pulling himself up to a standing postion since he was 8 months. He took his first 2 steps yesterday by himself but after that he sat down and crawled the rest of the way. I was also worried but like everyone has told me too he will do it in his own time. Dont worry girl its coming

Donna, I know it can be a bit hard to wait for the milestones, but seriously, enjoy this time while your little one isn't walking yet! She's got plenty of time, there is no hurry, she'll do it when she's good and ready. Things get tougher when they start to walk and you won't have a minute's rest so enjoy now! She'll be in every little corner and hole looking for small things to put into her mouth very soon...
Take care,
Lisa

Hi Donna,

Dont be concerned, my daughter is a little over 13 months and isnt confident to walk on her own yet. She is standing and will walk with you holding her hands but she was a very early crawler at 6.5months and has been so content crawling around because she is really fast. Also my brother didnt walk until he was 18months and he can walk perfectly fine today :-)

It really won't be long if she is cruising. My son started walking at 9 months on his own. One day he just upped and stood in the middle of the floor and took his first steps. He had been cruising for about 1 month before he did that. All babies are different. Enjoy the time you have before she starts walking because the walking soon turns into running.

I have 5 kids the first 4 didn't walk till they were 1. My youngest child was all into walking. She started walking at 11 months. Now she is 1 year and she is running. Every child is different and they will walk when they are ready. Trust me when she starts walking she will get into everything under the sun.

They usually say by 13 months. Both my kids walked at 9 months. They both never crawled either. They say that a crawler usually takes longer to walk. I wouldn't worry none. she will do it when she is ready.

don't stress too much at this stage ... all babies do things in their own time. one day you will look around and she will be toddling along happy as. maybe get a toy that is strong enough to support her, but light enough for her to push it along - that might get her started - i know it helped for my son

my son is almost 13 months old, and still refuses to stand without help. i'm not too concerned. i know when he is ready he will stand on his own, and walk on his own. each child is different :)

Donna don't freak yourself out. My son (who is 3 now) didn't walk until he was around 15 months old, had no interest in it at all. My daughter who just turned 1 has been walking for about a month 1/2. Everyone is different, believe me once your little one starts walking you'll be like why can't they just stay still

if sh'es holding onto to stuff and cruising it wont be long my kiddos were walking at 10 months and 10 and half months they were cruising for just a short time before walking

[deleted account]

My boy isn't walking either but I just took him to the doctor today and she wasn't concerned at all. She also said they should walk by 15 months and as long as he can pull himself up and cruise furniture he's fine.

i have 4 boys my eldest and 3rd walked by 10 months, my second walked at 13 months but my youngest who just turned 1 shows no intrest in it at all, he was slow to sit up and crawl so i guess he'll follow on and be slow to walk too. if she can already stand holding on to things i'm sure it wont be long
