Who has started solids?

We took Claire for her 4 month check-up and got the ok to start solids. We feed her 2 tablespoons of rice cereal with about an ounce of formula for breakfast and dinner. In the morning we add about a third jar of fruits and in the evening we add about a third jar of vegetables (these are added to the cereal).

So far, she has loved everything we've tried: sweet potatoes, carrots, summer squash, bananas, peaches (took her a couple tries before she "liked" it), applesauce. I think that's it.

Try it - you will only know if it is too soon or not by trying. We had Ethan on 3 meals a day after a month I just introduced things in small amounts and increased them. He was really receptive as he was so hungry. A couple of weeks after we started weaning him he was poorly and completely went off solids so I just gave him milk for a week and returned to solids after. If they do not want it they spit it out or do not open their mouth at all. We give Ethan Porridge in morning which he loves, Fruit at lunch and Veg with meat for dinner followed by a yogurt.

Wow! 8-9 ounce bottles is an incredible amount. I can see why your pedi recommended starting solids so early.

Claire has been on solids for a month now and has been doing very well. She is up to 2 feedings-breakfast and dinner. I feed her 3 tbsps of rice cereal/mixed with formula and a fruit in the morning and a veggie at night. I have been mostly making her food but occasionally default to store bought. So far, the only thing that she hasn't like AT ALL is avocado. And although she likes peaches, she gets an extremely sore tummy ache. So, we have decided to hold off on that one for a month or so. I feel bad that peaches upset her so much. It's probably because we have a peach tree and I ate a TON of peaches while pregnant. I couldn't eat the bottled peaches, though. I would become an immediate volcano after eating them. Being sick my whole pregnancy was so worth it!

I'm curious if I should wait to introduce another cereal/veggie at lunchtime now, since she is handling solids so well. What do you all think?

Hi I weaned onto solids when my son was 13 weeks, as Ethan was eating too much (8 9oz bottles a day and still hungry). He eats everything I make except Swede. He loves blueberries and banana. He is now eating 3 meals a day with lumps (he's 6 months).

Lol, Jamie. Claire LOVES squash but didn't like avocado at all. We're going to try it again in a week or so.

Hi Diana.
Claire is about 13 pounds. She was 6 weeks early, so I was surprised when her doctor gave us the ok. But, she has taken right to it swallowing every last bite.
