Any other moms doing Natural Family Planning?

Hello. My husband and I have been doing NFP for over 2 yrs now. We got pregnant 2 months after starting it. Our son is now almost 16 months and I have been ovulating since he was 10 months old. I check my cervical mucous only. I may start taking my temperature every day as an extra precaution, but my cycles are very regular so so far I haven't needed to. It has been hard but very rewarding and we are so excited for when we decide to have another baby.

I was just wondering if any other moms out there were doing NFP and what you thought about it. Are you struggling? What method do you use?Is there any moms that were thinking about trying it? I would strongly urge taking a class or reading a book about it.

We do NFP but mostly to attempt to avoid babies than to conceive them. I am open to kids whenever but sometimes ya just want to put it off a little longer. Fortunately for me I am amenorrheic while breastfeeding so that helps. With baby #1 I hadn't a clue so he was a honeymoon baby. #2 we tried postponing but had only managed to postpone until 3 months after I stopped nursing. # 3 only gave me one cycle between beginning to wean and getting pregnant. Fortunately, this time, with prayers and better planning I have managed 4 months with my body to myself.

We chose NFP for a few reasons.

#1 if God wants us pregnant it will happen. Can't tell you how many friends have tried BC only to get pregnant.

#2 stroke runs in my family so the risk of stroke being increased scares me.

#3 we are not afraid to have kids or a big family, although I am not sure how many 10lb babies my body will be able to handle.

The birth of our first child stopped us from continuing. We lived in a 1 room apartment and bought a house with 2 very small bedrooms and don't have the room for another baby at this time. But after my daughter was born I bled for 6 months straight and my doctor recommended Lo-Seasonique to even out my periods again. I am sensitive to estrogen so I stopped taking them and the bleeding started up again, so I went with Implanon. I have been on it for 8 months now and my periods have just started to be once every month, so in a couple years we may start up our natural family planning again.

What using no birth control? I did that for 2 yrs and ended up w 2 babies. Lol I now have a 15 mth old and a 1 mth old. So it didnt work for us. Im going back on birth control a lot less work and I cant be surprised by on off period. Dont get me wrong I love my 2 kids but I wouldnt have had them so close.

I figured out what week I ovulated by my cycles, I found out that I ovulate the week before my period. NFP worked for us to conceive a baby quicker and to avoid it. We did NFP for 3 years without any problems. I'm now on Implanon with no problems.
