Just looking for support, I failed my glucose screening and have to go back for the three hour glucose tolerance test. I wouldn't be freaking out about this normally except that I already have gallstones which means I am already on a horrible diet. I am supposed to avoid animal fat and oils, which means no red meat or pork, no cheese or butter I can only have low-fat or non-fat milk, yogurt or cottage cheese, and I can only eat foods that have not been cooked with oils or butter! If I end up with gestational diabetes I will have to give up even more foods! It truly makes me want to cry! I have 12 weeks to go!

i failed my 1 hour test and had to do the 3 hour one. its not easy cause because they drew my blood once an hour for 3 hours and i cant eat or drink anything the whole time. a couple of days later they called and said that everything was fine. some women fail the 1 hour cause it might take their body longer to digest the sugar than other women. but usually they pass the 3 hour test.

I failed my one hour as well. Luckily I passed my 3 hour with flying colors. I ate two bowls of cereal at 9:30 the night before which I think stopped my sugar from going crazy over night or during the test. The night before my one hour I had my last food at 8. Seemed to make a difference. Good luck and I hope that you pass this one!!

Good luck! I passed my 1st GTT at 18wks then failed the 28wk GTT and then passed my 3 hour. And I had even baked cookies the night before my 3 hr - only had 2 but I was surprised I passed it. Good luck!

Here's a tip I got (I also failed my 1 hour and have to go back in for my 3 hour next week): Have a piece of toast (check the carbs and minus the protein, which will give you the carb allowance for a single piece - you want less than 15 grams of carbs for a serving) with peanut butter or some meat and cheese before bedtime. That will help keep your sugar nice and level through the night. Steer clear of milk - that will jump your sugar right up!

That will give a good reading and help you pass the test. Just don't have any sugars the day before.
