Is anyone else's 8 month old trying to walk?

Just the other day, my son decided he wanted to start pulling himself up onto the furniture. He just started crawling and exploring the apartment about a month or so ago. I was just curious if anyone else has a baby roughly the same age doing the same thing.

My 6 mth old little girl is doing the same thing. She's been pulling herself up for a couple of months now and will kinda walk when you hold her hands. We checked with the doctor to make sure she was strong enough and he said to let her do it. It's exciting but scary cause she's still so little.

My son is not even sitting by himself fully yet and he is eight months. My cousin's daughter, however, is starting to pull herself up to stand and she is only six months.

I have a speed crawler, pulls up on everything, even the walls, she can stand up alone if you hold her up, but can manage several seconds unassisted before she realizes what she's doing and falls back into crawling position.

That's great!

My older daughter was full out walking at 9 months. My younger daughter, now 8 months, has no desire to do anything but kick in her bouncer and jump in her jumper. She hates the floor and tummy time - she won't even crawl!

Get the baby gates ready... good luck!

My 13 year old daughter was walking at 7month and 3 weeks without furniture... She just stood up one day and walked, that was it... She didn't stop after that.....

Mine did as well. By 8 1/2 months he was full on walking, At 9 1/2 months he started mastering going up stairs, at 10 1/2 months he mastered going down the stairs, now he is almost 11 months and has amazing balance. He squats a lot. Makes me giggle every time I see him doing it.

I've met some other mothers with boys with birth dates right around my son's and they are still crawling or attempting to walk. I look at those babies and think "Man your mom is SOOO LUCKY!" My son is nothing but PURE MOTION, amazing and trying all at the same time.

My son have even reached 7 months yet. My nephew on the other hand completely skipped crawling and went straight to walking at 9 months after he learned to walk he then began to crawl.lol.. Good luck!

my son is 9 months and while he crawls very quickly, and pulls himself to standing every opportunity he gets, I can't see him walking unassisted for quite some time! He is very long and extremely skinny (we actually were having issues with him being underweight and, while it is on the rise now, he is still below the bottom line on the percentile chart) with a rather large head! With his proportions, there is no way he will be walking without holding on any time soon! He is way too top-heavy.... :) Maybe when he chubs up a bit!

My daughter has been pulling her self up on anything that is low enough for her to grab on to for about a month now, she's doing it on walls now and walking around the coffee table while holding on her older brother had just started crawling at 8 months so i think just about any thing can be normal right now

my daughter did this when she was 7 months old, before she had even started to crawl she was pulling herself up to standing. It looked like she was going to skip crawling altogether but one day she discovered crawling and once she realised how easy it was to get around, she didn't try to actually walk for quite some time. She continued to stand up all the time, but was hesitant to take those steps. She didn't start walking full-time (she had been taking a few steps at a time for a little while prior) until her first birthday. It was on the actual day, she just decided that was it, she was going to walk full-time. My friend's little girl started walking at 9 months though. She is 3 now, and still very active!

My seven month old just pulled himself up yesterday and wants to get running after his 2 yr old brother! It is different for every kid, some are more motivated than others...especially if they have siblings that they want to keep up with!

My 4yr old was 9 months old when he started walking on his own. My 6.5month old has been crawling since 4months and now he walks along the furniture or anything he can pull himself up on. He gets so frustrated though when he cant get up to standing from the crawling position without grabbing something. Its so adorable.

My 8 months old is also trying to walk, pulling herself up on furniture and can stand for short periods of time, but she doesn't crawl or roll over fully yet. She hates lying down that's why she learnt to pull herself up quickly she is very inquisitive and needs to see everything

Oh my goodness - my daughter started walking at 7 MONTHS! She is now 9 months old and basically running. Everywhere we go people stop and stare because she is this tiny baby, 18 lbs, that is walking as good as one year olds. I have twin girls, 13 yrs old now, and they walked around 9 months and I thought that was quick - but SEVEN MONTHS! Her doctor is amazed at how advanced she is. She already says, since 7 1/2 months at least, momma / dada / and bottle (which actually sounds like boddle).
INSANE! I wonder if it is because she is trying to do everything her older sisters are doing?

My little lady has been trying to walk since she was about 9mths old, she is now able to stand for up to a minute at a time. She took her first steps a couple of weeks ago. She took three, and is now afraid to take more then one. But it's a start right? She can walk quite a distance if you hold only one of her hands.

hey i dont have an oct 2010 baby but when my now 2.5 yr old daughter was 8 months she was doing exactly what your son is doing :P she was sitting early, crawling early, took her time for teeth to come in but when it came to pulling up on tables etc she did it constantly from 7.5-9 months. now here's the scary warning ill give you--everyone around me told me 'she wont walk til she's 1' so on and so on.. well they were wrong! lol she took her first real steps (5+ controlled, intentional steps) at not even 9 months! it was 11 days before she turned 9 months. she was walking better and better by the time she actually turned 9 months. she was full on running by 12 months so look out!! it IS possible and i felt so sily for listening to people because i wasnt prepared for her to just up and walk like that lol

sounds like you have a strong baby boy :) update this when he takes his first steps!! i'D love to see how he progresses :) goodluck!

Mine, has been attempting it for a few weeks now, she is 8 months on the 29th, and is walking with the help of a baby doll stroller that she tried to eat while walking. Your baby is just moving a little faster! No worries, My oldest daughter she is almost 8, started crawling at 5.5 months and walking by 8 months and running by 1. She is the brightest most independent girl I know. ( not saying that cause she is my daughter LOL) But she does tend to be more clumsy. My middle boy didnt start walking till he was 15 months. He isnt nearly as clumsy may be a trend! Keep in mind, BABY PROOF BABY PROOF BABY PROOF , plugs cupboards, drawers the works!

my baby girl will be 9 months on Friday, but she has shown little interest in crawling, but started pulling herself up at 6 months and was 'crusing' by 7months. I expect she'll be taking her first independent steps any day now. Babies do things at different rates...a friend of mine has a one year old who shows little interest in walking, but has been crawling at around 7 months
