Try the "sit up game"....mt mom showed me. when shes lying down, say in a sing-song voice...."lets sit!"....then count down out loud...."one" tap tongue three times for beat..."two" tap beat dot dot dot "three!" and pull her up to a sitting position gently by her hands. then tell her "good job!" just do this often, and she will soon take it on her own.

Hi Chrissie..My first son, who is now 2, was the same. He was an early crawler and basically hated to sit still for more than a minute... he loved to explore all the time. He would stop crawling and rest back on his crouched legs but did not sit like many of his peers. He only began 'sitting' at around 10 month, and even then not for long stretches. He is, now at 26 months, a very co-ordinated and capable little button and I have no issues what so ever. I hope this makes you feel a bit more relaxed. I would keep an eye on things if you are concerned but at this stage I wouldn't stress especially if she is reaching all her other mile stones.

that good that thir sitting up i ia sure she will walk when thay get that time for them i know you want them to but thay do it give time and then you be saing sit down i have 4 of my own

Yeah i def. wouldnt worry. Every baby hits different milestones at different times. While one baby might roll over at 4 months, another might not until 8 months. My son was starting to sit up, leaning forward at about 5 months, then independently sitting well at 6 months, but didnt start rolling from front to back until he was 8 months, and is just now slithering as of a few weeks ago and he will be 9 months in 4 days. Some babies skip crawling all together. Do you have a boppy? If not try propping pillows artound her tohelp her strengthen her muscles and practice sitting everyday.

Like others have said, kids develop at different rates and it sounds like she is doing other things in the area of her gross motor skill development, which is a great sign. If you are concerned, contact a local Early Intervention program. The specialists there can do a (free) evaluation that will give you more insight. I recommend contacting EI and having input from a pediatric physical therapist before doing a CT scan.

My twin boys crawled (late crawlers too) before they sat independently, however they were 14.5wks prem. They are perfectly developed now so I wouldn't worry too much about it at the moment. Just keep an eye on her and keep in touch with your doctor.

My little girl will be 9 months on July 11th and she now sits on her own, but not for a very long time! she rolls everywhere she wants to go and talks all the time. she's trying to attempt to crawl...when she's on her belly she kicks her legs and bounces up and down and even gets up on her knees at times and rocks back and forth, lol. Laughing just thinking about it...just the funniest thing I've ever seen! Anyway, standing up...doesn't even think about it...she may push up every now and again, but not often. when it comes to her standing up...she's the laziest little think I've ever seen! I just think she likes it on the floor right now!

i was fortunate in my daughter (who was 5 weeks prem) was sitting by herself at 5 months, she is 8 n a bit months now though, she rolled over for the first time at 7 months and has no interest whatsoever in crawling...her cousin who is 7 months, is crawling, walking round furniture etc, but cant sit. they all develop at different rates, and unless your doctor is worried i wouldnt worry to much

Have you tried a walking ring? My little girl is crawling now (same age as all of yours) and I know that she HATED the Bumbo too. She liked to see things and feel in control. Now that she is crawling and trying to walk, I have got rid of the ring. I know some people are against the rings but my daughter loved hers for the ten minutes a day she spent in it. My friend's little boy isn't crawling yet and it is due to the fact that his granny carries him all day...not good for them either. Your child will develop in his/her own time but also trust your doctor ;)

My son hated the bumbo chair as well!! .. but has sat up on his own for a few months now.. Maybe try sitting her in your lap on the floor and play with a book or toy.. .so she still has a little support from your chest/tummy.

My daughter who will be in her 8th mth on 30th june is not able to sit on her own for a long time, whereas my neighbour's daughter who was born a day before my baby girl is crawling everywhere.....Even i know that every infant has its own pace,,,but when i see the difference , it makes me thinking.....

My son is the same, I spoke to our midwife about it, and she said because he is talking with his voice so much more, it just means he is using more of that part of his brain, so the other part wont get used as much, they all develope so differently.

Yeah, I wouldn't play into that CT scan thing unless she goes entirely too long without any type of progress. Some babies just skip some steps...she might start crawling before she ever sits up, you never no! My oldest was sitting up before 8 months and crawling around 8 or 9 and started walking at 10. All babies are different, so don't reck your brain thinking about it...she'll get it! One day you'll look up and she's going to be everywhere and you won't be able to catch her, lol!

My son is 8 months today and he sits by himself for a while but whenever he reaches for something or tries to look over his shoulder he falls over.
I wouldn't be too worried about it as babies reach there milestones at different ages, and this is no indication to how smart they are.
My older son satrted sitting at 9 months, crawled at 10 months and walked at almost 12 months.

Thank you Shanika. I feel really comforted. My daughter does the same things like your baby too. When i carried her to the paediatrician he recommended a CT Scan to ensure that her brain is working normally. I dont feel too comfy about that.......so..i am giving her some more time. Thank you.

My daughter isn't sitting up yet either and she'll be 9 months on July 11th. I will be sure to ask her pediatrician at her next visit, but she's making attempts to try and crawl and of course she's babbling like she's trying to start saying mama and dada...but it sounds like she's asking for her baba! I'm hoping it's not an issue! She's been pulling herself up for quite some time now, but doesn't quite make it all the way up. When I sit her straight up she won't stay...she falls over to the side or she leans in forward. So far i think there's nothing to worry about!
