my son eats up to 7oz from a bottle if I can't be with him - he's around 16lbs or so already :S There is a way to bottlefeed as someone already said.. it's not common sense. I read in "The Womanly Art of Breastfeeding" that whoever is feeding is supposed to have the baby take quick breaks every couple ounces to prevent him/her from over-eating. We also use the slow flow nipple on the bottles but when I breastfeed I have major oversupply and a super fast flow so who knows how much he's getting. If she's healthy and gaining weight I wouldn't worry about her getting *too much* breastmilk.

whatever she needs...my son will eat about 3-4 oz when I pump on the weekends. He's about 3 1/2 months. I think this is normal. She also could be going through a growth spurt. growth spurts ususally occur at 3wks...6wks..3 mos...6mos.

My understanding is that if a baby is fed with a bottle, regardless of formula or breast milk, it is not so called 'baby-led' feeding and they tend to over drink. After all drinking from a bottle is so much easier than working at breast. Baby can decide how much she wants if nursed at the breast while with a bottle she'll drink till her stomach is stretched and no longer can take it. So my 2 cents is let her nurse instead of drinking out of a bottle with your pumped milk...well of course there's other reasons some moms can't nurse the baby and have to go with a bottle...my baby boy's nursed every 3-4 hours at the breast so I can't really tell how much he drinks...

Breastmilk is different to formula in the fact that it is lighter to start with then you get to what is called your hind milk which is the really thick stuff, is she only feeding from what you pump and not actually nursing? It might be worth while if you can nurse her cause babies are better at getting the milk out then the pump. My daughter used to nurse for up to 30 mins at a time then that would last her 3-4 hours. breastmilk also doesnt last as long so thats why she could be wanting more feeds.

don't worry about giving her to much breast milk shell let you know when she is done. My little guy is about five months and he only nurses ever 3 to 5 hours and he sleeps all night. I also have an over supply too. So I don't know how much he is getting. However I did used to breast pump up until he decided he hated the bottle. So now I have to nurse before I go anywhere to make sure he is nice and full. Good luck!

My baby is four months old today. She is kind of chubby. She eats every 2 hours. When I go to work I leave her with 3 3 oz bottles and I'm gone for 6 hours. She usually drinks only two of those bottles. She doesn't finish the first one and she drinks the second one to the last drop.
