Nuchal Translucency Ultra Sound

We elected to have ours done, only because it was just another excuse to see the little bean! It took me nearly three years to conceive, so I've been very on the edge about everything and worried over the littlest things! Seeing Bean for the 3rd time really put my mind at ease.

Our tech didn't even bother guessing at the sex. She said it was too early to tell, but I have heard of some finding out that soon.

Our gender scan is scheduled for May 25th, when I'll be 18 weeks.

Rebekah- The heartbeat that she got and measured was 153 and she didnt seem worried. She did tell me that the more the baby moves the higher the heartbeat goes up so that could have been what happened in your case.
I had only had one cup of coffee that morning but on the way to the office i was eating white chocolate covered pretzels....mmmm....so i was chalking it up to the sugar I had eaten. Who knows but it's great that they are wiggly! Hopefully they will cooperate when it's time to find out the sex!

That's great, Cassandra! Sorry you were unable to find out the sex, but happy to hear you have a healthy boy/girl. I was told Monday that the fold size was normal, but the blood results would take a week... So, I'm still waiting... Ugh.

I'm glad you mentioned that your baby would not stop moving. At my appointment the other day my baby was constant motion too. I had caffeine for the first time (in 12 weeks) on Monday, and I was a little worried that maybe that had made him/her crazy. At one point, we literally saw him/her do a complete flip. The tech kept trying to get a 3D image of the face at the end, but it was completely impossible.

What was the heart-rate of your little one? Mine was 160 at the ultrasound, 170-180 a little while later, and then back to 160. They said that was normal, but the 180 seemed super high to me.

So I had my NT today and it was wonderful! The fold size was 1.7mm and I am measuring at 13w 3d. She had all my blood test results from the first trimester screening and my she said all tests together were perfect...1 in 99,000 for down syndrome and 1 in 100,000 for trisomy 18! I am still going to get the second trimester blood work done because I like to know that everything is ok! now with the sex of the baby...This kid would NOT stop moving!!! She could barely get a heartbeat it kept rolling around front to back and kicking its legs super hard! When this kid gets bigger all those kick are going to HURT! I have my 20 week U/S scheduled already and hopefully it will cooperate then so we can see what it is! I did get a plastic size correct baby for 13 weeks that I got to take home! It sounds weird but its really cool to see exactly how big the baby is instead of knowing it's about the size of a lime!

Michelle please let us know how yours goes on the 6th!

I might could have pressed her to tell, but even when I told her it didn't really matter b/c I already had a boy and a girl she didn't offer the information. My next ultrasound will be at 18 weeks, so I guess I can wait until then. Good luck tomorrow!

Rebekah you didnt find out what the 70% chance was? that's all i'm looking for right now! they either see boy parts or nothing at this size. I know you can't say for sure but in all honesty you don't really know what your having until you have it! Well mine is tomorrow and I want to know what the 70 or 80 % is...will post again tomorrow! Hope everything went well!

So, I went today and did NOT find out the sex. The tech told me that she might could give a good guess, but it would just be a guess and would probably only be about 70% accurate (a tiny bit more than flipping a coin). So, I'll have to wait a few more weeks....

I go on Monday (I'll be 12 weeks) for my Nuchal Translucency Ultrasound, so I'll let you know if they are able to determine anything. This is my 3rd child, but I was not given the option with my other two kids. I never even thought about them being able to determine the sex this early... that would be awesome. I'll let you know Monday evening or Tuesday morning how it goes...

Thanks Cassandra! I too am wondering if my miserable morning sickness means that I'm having a girl! LOL! I'll be 12 weeks for my appointment on the 6th. I am doing it because of my age (just turned 35), but it would be great to find out the sex too! I'll keep my fingers crossed for both of us!! :)

Hi Michelle!
I have mine scheduled for March 30th and I have had the appointment for 2 weeks now and I can not wait any longer! I just want to get better pics of the baby and maybe have a chance to see what i'm having. I think, reading other posts in other birth groups, that they can mostly see boy parts this early and they only say 80% sure or so. I will post on here after my appt and let you know how it went!

I haven't had one before, but am scheduled for mine on April 6. I had no idea that we might find out the sex so early! I'm interested to see what the other ladies might have to say about this! :)
