What should I do for a constipated 3 month old?

for my son his pediatrician recomended that i give him baby apple juice. and i give it to him after he eats his baby food just incase . hes 9 mos on the 15th

I know it's way past when you posted this but one of the best ways I've found to get my daughter to poop was to take her temp rectally. It helps with the 'lube' and the tip of the thermometer to loosen the stool a little bit. And in all honesty it's not anyone's business if you feed your child formula/breast milk just my opinion.

You can help your baby by drinking the prune juice and the baby can get it through your milk. Make sure if you continue to breastfeed that you eat good too. I believe it's best to try the massaging and stimulation first so no future complications could happen.

I would definitely not supplement formula unless you really have a medical reason to do so. I also would not recommend juices and laxatives as they are not natural for a baby to have. Just because someone created these formulas does not mean they are good for babies. This just goes to show formula is not natural either for a baby and breastmilk should be given if you are able to do so. Try baby massage and mixing breastmilk with formula as others have suggested.

My son would get constipated when we gave him formula (he's breastfed too though) it stopped after awhile until his body was used to it. I also used to mix my breast milk in with the formula in the beginning.

My doctor told us we could do 1-2 oz of prune juice or they also said 2 ounces of warm water mixed with 1 1/2 tsp of brown sugar. The sugar water helped him poop but didn't give him watery poops like prune juice did...and he LOVED drinking it. Haha.

My little one is 14 weeks. we use laxette, just 5ml. It works like a bomb. Been using it since she was 2months.

My 3 month old was just constipated for the first time this last weekend, she normally has a bowel movement at least once a day and went 2 days without one, so I was getting worried. I massaged her belly in a clockwise motion for about 5 minutes and within 10 minutes she had a bowel movement. I'd give it a shot before giving them anything you don't feel comfortable with.

my doctor said normal to go up to like 4 days without bowel movement... my son goes every other day. I wouldn't stress about it. They Hospital gave my son karo syrup to get him to take a pacifier I think its okay in Really small portions.

My doctor said to try 1-2 ounces of prune juice also.....it worked for me, make sure ur prepared for a blow out diaper though!!! Good luck!

When my little boy is constipated i massage his belly with baby oil for about 10mins.then do a bicycle motion movement for a few minutes with his legs. ....within 10mins he goes x

I had the same problem before I switched the formula. My pediatrician suggested 1-2 teaspoons of prune juice in her bottle. She was 2 months old at this time. Breastfeeding consecutively also helps as it has a laxative effect. I did both which helped. Good luck.
