I make an honest effort in keeping my home a sane place to live in. but i dont know what it is about the car that my efforts get left at the front door. the other day i took my car for a car wash and was surprised at ALL the crap the attendants found in, under and around the seats!!! i have 2 preschoolers who are BEYOND the guilty offenders.

Any ideas on how to maintain the madness in the vehicle?

i learned my lesson from our first car that with small children, leather is the way to go. when my kids were babies i had to get the fabric deep cleaned at least once a month! having the leather definately helps to prevent the seats from looking nasty...i cant say the same about the floors :(

lol um no? I gave each of the kids a little drawstring knapsack. I told them if they brought in the bag - it goes back in the bag. Wrappers, juice boxes, toys WHATEVER, it does not stay in my car. now its marginally cleaner. I don't know what I was thinking though when I insisted on fabric seats and not leather.. ok well I do know what I was thinking but omg the LINT - its MADDENING!!

Kinda hard with little ones, but it does get better as they get older.

Best thing is to make rules.

My new car of 1 1/2 yrs has stayed pristine surprisingly because:

1) I allow no eating or drinking in the car. We eat n have a drink BEFORE we get in the car or we eat at the place we are going to stop to eat. Always order a small drink or water. The drink isnt coming in the car unless its a water bottle with a cap!

2) If you bring it in the car, you take it OUT of the car with you.

3) NO GARBAGE! WRAPPERS! PAPERS! PEOPLE DROPPING OF ANY KIND JUST DROPPED ON THE FLOOR!!!! Put your garbage in your bag, your pocket, I dont care if you EAT it!

To keep up with these rules, I completely check n scan my car before the potential culprits leave the car. I will even call them back to pick up a scrap of paper from their note book is left.

Keeps them responsible for their own junk n NOT MINE!

You should see how new my car still looks!!!!

Walmart has the faberic or plastic storage bins. If the seats are high enough like in a van you could get a bin for each kid and tell then EVERYTHING goes in then Bin. Clean then out every so often and hopefully ploblem solved. lol Not too sure I havent tired it though.

If I really had my way - my truck would have fisherprice seats with 1970s rubber floors.
