Wanted to get an idea of your mom lifestyle. for me, my OCD tendencies is a direct result of Parenthood....i wasn't nearly this freaked out my mess and clutter. And with a family of five, it becomes challenging...and some days i just throw in the towel (you have to once in a while to keep your sanity, lol).
So feel free to give us a taste of your personal chaos, however big or small. Let the tales begin! :)

I have a teen and a five year old, and a small dog. I just learned a long time ago that it gets done when it does. The essentials like the kitchen and bathroom get done on a daily basis but the laundry (putting it away!)can wait till the end of the week, so can my desk and a bunch of other stuff. I'd rather enjoy my children and get to the cleaning later. Between forcing the little one to clean up and getting the older one in the mood (I know there are some people who actually enjoy cleaning, but I surely don't).. It works out better when they are happier and in the mood to help me!

Im Casey, together my boyfriend and I have 3 kids3 yo boy,(mine), 3 yo boy(his) 6 yo girl(his). Our lives are a little nuts. we live in a 2 bedroom apartment. The kids have their large loft style room upstairs and we have the rest of the house. Of course their toys wonder down stairs. Goin back up through out the day. I would say our house is pretty clean. Mainly because Im currently not working. Looking though. So most of my time is spend cleaning. Mostly out of boredom then the fact that the house is "dirty". The way things are now works for us. Well have to see what happens when we have 2 parents working.
Cluther bothers me when its in excess. For the most part I live by the though of... if I dont get to it today their is always tomorrow. This works for us.

Hi! I'm Christy. I'm a mother of four and I have a wonderful husband. Housekeeping is my downfall in life. I really don't like to clean. Luckily my kids are old enough to help and my hubby pitches in once in awhile, too, so we're not beyond help! Right now I'm working on replacing book cases, reorganizing, dejunking and switching the kids' bedrooms. UGH.

I am 34 (soon to be 35) year old mother of one (soon to be 2 boys). My biggest new mommy issue was dealing with my OCD. I have always been "uber" organized (according to my friends and family) and even received compliments on it from them and others. Now though I still have the OCD but not the time to indulge in it. That and my oldest son has found little ways of breaking me. I have always been the one that all of the cans and boxes in the pantry faced forward perfectly and were lined up exactly. My son's little ways destroyed that tendency after 8 months of him going into the pantry moving things around and eventually losing my labels all together! What took him 5-10 minutes to destroy took me hours to repair! Now being pregnant with our second son I have found that even keeping up with normal housework is a daunting task (5 1/2 months of throwing up has slowed me down a bit). I still get anxious about the messes but find I do not have the energy to do anything about them. So I guess they win, I give up (for now anyway). I just can't wait until I feel good enough again to clean my house and organize the way I like it to be.

My name is Brandy Im married and struggle with the aftermath of what four children dont clean up. The oldest he is 9, the girls are 6 & 3 and the youngest is 17 months old we call him tornadoe joejoe, need I say more????LOL I dont know what a normal, clean or even quiet house is, unless the kids are sleeping. We do have fun and laugh alot, and there is definetly never a dull moment, or lack of booboo kisses. I figure if I get the house clean just once I hav deffinetly accomplished that task, as for all my others, one day at a time, and even sometimes one seconed at a time.

Needless to say I am nothing but chaos! lol. I am a stay-at-home mom, luckily. My work with the kids and the house keeps me chaotic and busy enough! I haven't always cared so much about being organized, but when you have three kids under five running around who really has the option not to be? I am always open to new ideas to help our household run more smoothly so feel free to through some advice out there! lol. Hi my name is Lee Sha and I'm an ADHD (been that way since I was a child) working, single mom . I had to join this group because organization is a battle for me. At times I feel like I'm losing my mind LOL. I walk in to the kitchen and say" yes today is the day to organize the kitchen" 10 minutes later I'm in my closet color coordinating my work outfits. I not only need help I need an intervention LOL. I refuse to take medication for my ADHD( but hold no prejudice to those who do) I just would love tips on organization and it's nice to know I'm not alone in this. Thanks for this group, look forward to all the great brainstorms and advice :)

Hi, I am Leanne. Mother of 5 ages 7 - 15. I try to keep a clean home and for the most part, I do. Once you pick everything up, underneath has been sanitizied. Lots of hands putting things in really strange places (ponytails on kitchen counter (that one makes me crazy) socks in couches or chairs (i swear they're going to pack something off one day) But all in all I try to keep everyone organized, fed and loved and my husband and I are doing the best we can. I go into a bit of OCD when i see everyone doing nothing and stuff everywhere. Haven't lately, which means our " responsibility chart" is helping out. I am lookig forward to learning new organizing tips amongst my chaos. I love what I've got and wouldn't change a thing, except the toliet paper roll because I am the only one who knows how.

Hi all, Im Mirika and a stay home mum of 3. I hate cleaning full stop, I dont do washing, thats hubbys job, and god help him if he asks me to hang the washing out for him. I tell him ill trade him the washing for the toilits, that soon has him outside with his little laundry basket, lol.

Im working from home now as well and my passion is to find and live my balanced life. Ive been working on it for 3mths now and def know that I dont have the attention span for long cleaning sessions, however, if I want to find anything in this house I have to do it atleast once a month and fit in the little jobs durring the week.

My kids have clothes folding and dry and put away dishes duty, my son is 14 and I took him off washing dishes duty because we got sick of having to put the dishes back to be wash, I gave in after a year of "omg, do you even look at the dishes when you wash them?". My daughter is 12 and only has to dry and put the dishes away. I would rather have clean dishes than fight with my kids, lol.

We have lots of little places we like to "never never land" where all sorts of stuff ends up. Toothpaste sitting on the top of the book shelf, mail sitting in the toy box, cds in the kitchen cupboards. Its like a little treasure hunt. However, so far, our house has swallowed up an ipod, a playstation portable, $200, my car keys and some other stuff, we like to call the phenomion the black hole, where things just dissapear never too be seen again. We did find one such thing, about 1yr later i think, howevre, none of the other stuff has shown up yet.

I have 4yr old who we think is the source of the black hole. One day im going to follow him around the house and see where his little hiddy places are.

We currently live in semi organised chaos, my goal is to get from semi to just plain 'organised chaos' this year.

Now im off to do my zumba, have some breaky and pick one of my cleaning jobs for today. :)

we usually keep things clean but ever since we had our son, it seems that it gets to the point where there is just stuff EVERYWHERE because we are both so wore out by the end of the day (not to mention we are staying in a basement at a family members house until we can afford a house) that i have decided to make every night a different night for cleaning i.e. sunday night is usually laundry and check book balancing, then mondays is straightening, tuesday dust and vacuum, etc until it just becomes second nature. i know it sounds like a lot but there really isn't a lot to clean now so it only takes a few minutes =)

Hello. I'm Traci. Like almost all of you... I despise laundry too! lol I dont mind washing it, but it all ends up on our back playroom couch! It makes for a chaotic morning sometimes getting the kids ready for school, and having to dig thru tons of clothes!! Atleast they are clean right?? Thats what I try to tell myself, but I just cant seem to keep up!! With my youngest daughter looking thru her drawers throwing everything out to find clothes to wear, its a never ending cycle! My house is clean... but its the clutter, toys, clothes, ect. that make it chaotic. Especially when you know you just saw something that you need, and seem to not beable to find it 5 minutes later lol. I just dont have the energy to keep up like I used to. I finally had to learn that its not the end of the world if my clothes arent folded, and everything isnt perfect. You can overwhelm yourself after awhile, and to me I dont function well being too overwhelmed! Most of the time I know where things are, even if they dont make it to their home, but I must admit, life is alot easier for everyone in the home when things are organized. I'm working on it, now if my kids will put their things where they go, it would be perfect :) Good luck to everyone, and dont get too overwhelmed!

I go on these 10 hr cleaning sprees where no dust bunny can survive!! I LOVE the smell of a clean house!!! But with poopy diapers, a 20lb cat that poops like a human!!! & my bouts of laziness... I go nuts!! My dinner table is the center of clutter!! Whatever doesn't have a place, ends up there!!! Ugh!! I hate to have anyone over if I haven't cleaned!!! Like magaly , I think guests secretly look at my tub to see how clean it is!! ( the bathroom is hubbys job!!)LOL

Hi Magaly! I just popped in here. Well my intake is that my home is a reflection of myself. So when things are a mess around the house (clean but a mess) I feel that I can not get anything done. It is not until I begin to declutter and organize that I feel much better. Cleaning is actually a stress reliever for me! Crazy I know.....

I work from home. So it is hard to try to balance both. In the past I would find myself leaving my "office" (a tiny hole in the wall) and tending to house chores. Now, I need to just put my mind to one thing at a time. Which is very hard at times, because I feel that I am constantly all-over-the-place.

Write you soon!

Ivy

Zeneida - lets be neighbors!! I'll do your dishes and you do my laundry - we'll use the bigger boys to cart the stuff between houses!

I'm almost like you! 3 boys and a girl but the oldest is a stepchild so I didn't give birth to one. And our youngest - the girl - lol well she has daddy wrapped around her finger, the boys are a little skeptical about her "innocence" but she's 7 yrs old now and mouthy about how smart she is, lol.

Hi Magaly,

As you may already know I am a mother of 4! Yes it does take some getting use to saying it let alone writing it...lol

I have been blessed with Sons. My oldest is soon to be 17 in Sept. and is very thoughtful and respectful and is awesome in playing the older sibling. A 15yr old who dimples can light up a room but watch out he knows how to speak his mind and might want to debate...lol I also have a 7yr old son who has been reading since the age of 2 1/2 yr old and is like genius and the baby in the house. So I got use to saying 3 but NOW i have to get use to saying 4 wow!!! Not only saying 4 but now i have to get use to saying DAUGHTER! My daughter is now 5months old and is the DIVA in the house..lol She has everyone wrapped around her little finger!

My family has grown bigger and I just want to add I enjoy doing DINNER but HATE doing dishes and rather do laundry...lol

OH I know with three active kids and a yard, lots of dirt, all the sports and crazy bike rides and pet hair (4 cats - 2long haired, and one long haired dog) my livingroom is FULL of laundry. Clean laundry and there is a cat on it... but its clean!!! I swear I do 3 loads a day MINIMUM and frequently 5 loads a day and I'm not done!!!

I've gotten to the point that I threaten the kids with death if I find clean folded clothes ORRRRR clothes STILL on the hangar in MY DIRTY LAUNDRY!

BUT! My 14 yr old is FINALLY responsible enough to wash his own clothes!!! YAY!!!

but my husband - I refused to do his laundry for a while because he won't put it away - the man dragged out some shirt from the 70s. UGLY polyester, hideous fake mother of pearl buttons and wore it out into public. NOT to mention the dirty laundry overflowed his basket and filled the aisle next to his bed to the point that he was able to sleep on it. GROSS.

Now I have a headache, lol.

I'm Krista and I have an 8 month old son, a husband, and a dog. I've always liked to have a clean, uncluttered house, but I can easily turn into a slob in between my bouts of OCD cleaning madness. I find that having a big dog that sheds a lot really drives me crazy since my son was born. I hate that my poor baby boy and all his toys and clothes are always covered in dog hair! Everyone thinks I'm super clean and neat...but it's a bit of an illusion...I just clean like crazy before I allow anyone into my house, and if people show up unannounced, I'm usually mortified by the mess that they find!

We live in a ranch type situation all kinds of animals but no cows. Life is always crazy but fun.

One of these days I'd like to pay someone to come clean up my house of all its danged clutter!

I've always been a neat freak and since I had my daughter...between taking care of her and daily house chores I find myself throwing things around, lol. I used to get all anxious about it and wanted everything perfect all the time but that's just not possible with kids. Taking things one day at a time and also finding time for yourself to wind down is very important. So when I can get to it I will, learning to not drive myself nuts over a lil dust...it can always be done later on or the following day...As far as her toys go...that's another story, lol
