Looking for playgroups in Gatineau (Sector Hull)

I've just moved to the Plateau (in Hull) from Warsaw, Poland. In Warsaw we had a crazy active expatriate mothers and tots playgroup program for all ages from 0-school age and I really miss it! I know there are groups for older kids (1.5+) but I'm mainly looking for younger groups (0-18 months) that are mainly social times for moms :-) I need to get out!! If anyone has any ideas (or lives in the area and would like to get together one day), in French or English, please let me know!! My son is 1 month old but I also have a 16 month old who goes to daycare.

Hi,

There is an anglophone playgroup on 101 Symmes street, Aylmer QC, it is free, and big. No registration is required. I will be taking my son there tomorrow. they are open on Tuesdays 9:30 am to 11:30 am. I know the United Church in Aylmer also has a playgroup, but you have to pay, It is every day.

PS

You don't need to be a member of these churches, all are accepted.

I hope this will help, it is always great to see our children play and have fun, and it is a moment to relax for mother.

Hi Cynthia,

Alas, no, I have not had any luck finding playgroups (at least for me and my 3 month old). My daughter has been to Tubes and Jujubes with her grandparents and apparently it is very good, but with my youngest... well he's not quite up to crawling through the tunnels yet :-) There are a couple of groups for older kids that I know of-- one in Aylmer that's bilingual and one in the Plateau that's francophone but they're for 1 year +. Apparently the only people who need socializing are our children and we mat leave moms just need to cool our heels until we go back to work!

There is Matinees pour mamans at Starcité Hull on Thursdays and they show one movie in each language (check Starcité's listings) every week and you can bring the little ones.

Let me know if you find anything!

Hi Ambra!

I'm a first time Mom to a 2 month old boy named Liam Philippe. I too am looking for a play group, did you have any luck? I'm a little limited because I am an angliphone and can only speak french sparingly; I am trying to learn though. I heard a great place to go with toddlers and babies is Tubes and Jujubes Family Fun Centre located near the Casino. I hope this helps!
